16 years ago today, I started my nursing school journey.
I was starting LVN school but my goal was to be a nurse practitioner. I had a massive mountain to climb I was overwhelmed and terrified of this goal. I didn’t know how I was going to ever make it. I had been a stay at home mom for 2 years, was living in a new city with no family around and was all alone for a month at a time (due to my ex’s job).
But I had faith and took just one step at a time. The women I met in LVN school helped change my life. Lisa Via Bryan Stephanie Ratliff showed me how strong I truly was. Supported me like a family, helped me with Abby when I had no one. I saw the power of choosing your tribe 💕
I graduated with my LVN license and proceeded to get my ADN, BSN and then my Masters as a Nurse Practitioner. There were so many bumps along the way, but there was always someone that would show up exactly when I needed them.
Now this summer, that baby girl next to me in that photo is starting her own journey into nursing. She is attending TWU (my alma mater) in the fall. I am so proud when I see this photo, because I know how I felt that day. I was terrified. Everything I knew was changing, but I also knew God had me.
I am so proud of that Angela 16 years ago. Because of the choices she made, I have an awesome journey and met some amazing people that have changed my life for the better. 💕
If you have a dream in your head that has been calling to you, go after it! If it scares you, even better! If you still have breath in your lungs you still can fulfill that dream.
God puts dreams in our hearts for a reason. Trust him and take the leap. You won’t regret it 🥰
