More smallmouth means more fun!

This supplemental stocking program will be crucial for sustaining the bass populations when we have destructive high water events during and/or after spawning season. Smallmouth are notoriously difficult to raise and to think VA has done this well in only a short time in the game is promising for a bright future in the smallmouth fishing world.

I was recently challenged about my “why” while out fishing with a couple buddies. On one hand, my “why” is to be the best version of me to support my family and my clients. I workout/train for clarity and longevity. If I don’t take care of myself first, it’s hard to be present (not distracted) in the moments I’m supposed to be there for. Yes, it’s a little selfish (and that’s ok).

On the other hand, I thought my “why” was to provide a service - access to the river and creating memories fishing. This is specifically the “why” which was being questioned. It wasn’t because I was wrong… I just hadn’t opened up my eyes to what I’m really providing out there on the water. It was laid out plainly that day, that the 5hrs on the water we spent fishing, catching and conversing was HEALING. Something I escape for and seek for myself was simply overlooked.

While I continue to grow this business and better define mine, I challenge you to re-evaluate (or set) YOUR “why.”

Since I’ve got some trout stuff coming up volunteering with Project Healing Waters and a couple weeks fishing up north, I saved myself a lot of time and squinting by filling the box up with a bunch of bugs from Montana Fly Company

I’m looking forward to cursing under my breath while tying some of these on and likely coming to the realization of needing reading glasses for knots.
