Certified Professional Recovery Coach
Mindfulness & Intuitive Eating Support TESTIMONY:
Allie began her journey with yoga in 2006 when she took her first class as a teenager and developed a positive sense of self-esteem through the practice. PAIN RELIEF to FULLY RESTORED
In 2007, Allie found herself in physical therapy, rehabilitating a herniated disk in L5 S1 with sciatica, and was instructed to preform a series of exercises in order to live without pain.
She was so happy to recognize the stretches and exercises from her yoga practice, and began to find joy in her healing journey through yoga. HABIT to PRACTICE
As she began to develop a regular yoga habit, Allie went from nearly bed-ridden - on crutches and pain meds for most of her junior year of high school - to walking & running, returning to her position on the lacrosse team, and LIVING a full life without pain. THERE'S A TEACHER IN THERE
Allie continued to find harmonies between yoga and healing, and in 2013 she became a Registered Yoga Teacher through an immersive RYS Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Teacher Training at the Discovery Yoga School in Saint Augustine, FL. Teachers who train at Discovery, a Kripalu affiliate, receive a rare gift in the western world. There, Master Trainer and Owner Deva Parnell passes down sacred yoga teachings received directly from his holiness Swami Kripalu, affectionately known as Bapuji (dear father). Today, Kripalu yoga is adapted from ancient Hatha yoga practices, and it's aim is to guide the awareness of the yogi inward. RECOVERY - FREEDOM
Inspired by the benevolent teachings, and after a long violent history with mental illness, substance-use disorder and alcoholism, Allie began attending 12 Step Meetings in 2013. She has been clean and sober since Nov. 26, 2013. SELF-ESTEEM
A former college drop-out, Allie was surprised at the level of empowerment she felt after her immersive YTT at Discovery. In 2014, she completed her Bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of North Florida with an emphasis on public relations. Passionate about nurturing and cultivating relationships, she continues to work full-time in the corporate world, teaching yoga part-time and maintaining her personal practice. FINDING OM AGAIN
Striving for personal alignment first, she continues to use yoga to rehabilitate physical, mental and spiritual maladies. In 2016, she surrendered an eating disorder she'd been living with since she was 12, finding relief, solace, and peace on her mat. "Yoga was the only place I felt safe as I came back to my body. I had to learn to love myself. I still went to meetings, but there was already so much negative noise inside my head - I needed to move to get out of my head and into my body, and then I got still enough to actually hear the good things my heart was saying...
.. Relearning how to eat is relearning how to live. It's so much more than eating, it's thinking. We trained ourselves to think about our food/our bodies/ourselves/other people in these distorted patterns. Recovery is a rewiring, but first we have to untangle ourselves...
.. It was made so much easier by coming to yoga, finding friends who practiced loving kindness and compassion as a lifestyle. It was just easier to be healthy when I had my practice, my teachers, and the support of my community." And by the Grace of some Divine Power, the obsession to diet/ control her food intake or shame her body has been lifted, and she's been free from the binging/purging/restricting cycle since April 2016. Her recovery story is a testimony to the healing power of yoga and it’s many blessings. EXPERIENCE
Allie’s experience teaching populations of all ages, bodies of all sizes under different conditions at gyms, studios, corporate trainings, schools, in-home, outdoors and in the community make her a well-rounded appreciative teacher and forever-student of people. TRAINING
