Meet the insect you probably didn't know you're eating: the cochineal parasite. This insect is used for its red dye, carmine, in many popular foods. Here are 7 foods that contain the cochineal parasite for its color:
- Starbucks: Raspberry Swirl Cake, Birthday Cake Pop, Mini Donut, and Red Velvet Whoopie Pie
- Kellogg’s: Fruit Loops cereal and Fruit Snacks
- Tropicana products
- Betty Crocker: Red Velvet Cake Mix
- Nestlé: Nesquik Chocolate Cookie Sandwich (Strawberry) and Wonka Nerds
- Skittles
- Dannon yogurt: Strawberry, Blueberry, and Raspberry flavors
Side note: It takes about 40,000 of these insects to produce 1 pound of carmine dye. Incredible!

9 Florida State parks are facing, they’re being targeted by developers to be turned into golf courses. The hearings are on the same day at the same time next week.

Florida is one of the most biodiverse states in the nation, home to over 3,000 plant species and more than 4,000 animal species, many of which are found nowhere else in the world (endemic). The proposed developments will negatively impact Florida’s ecosystems, endangering imperiled plant and animal species like the Four-petal Pawpaw and the Florida scrub jay. The pristine habitats that make our state parks unique are crucial for wildlife and a significant draw for tourism. Our parks’ natural beauty drives visitors, not artificial recreational facilities.
The construction of golf courses in these parks would introduce harmful chemicals into the environment, contaminating our groundwater, rivers, and soil. These chemicals pose long-term risks to both the ecosystem and public health. It is irresponsible to sacrifice Florida's natural treasures for short-term gains that could lead to irreversible damage. "Do you know what I just heard about your friend?"

"A moment," replied Socrates. "Before you tell me, I would like to test it with the three sieves."

"The three sieves?"

"No, I just heard it."
