Fannie Lou Hamer's words from the 1960s ring hard and true, especially now in 2026.

Hamer was a notable Black leader in the disability rights movement. She lived with several disabilities and led the charge to register Black people in Mississippi to vote. She also co-founded the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party.
