COMPassionate Revolt LGBT + Q***r + Genderq***r + Non-Binary + Non-Monogamous + Kink Affirmative and Knowledgeable Healing Services Stop blaming yourself.

We live at the intersections of the lives we have been placed into and the lives we would like to see manifest for ourselves. Each of us holds privilege and oppression in our bones. It is how we build up the muscles around those bones that allows us to walk through this world with kindness, consciousness, and agency. Stop focusing on the symptoms. These pathologies made visible are appropriate rea

ctions to inappropriate situations. Our depression, anxiety, inability to move, tendencies to self-harm, and the countless other ways we funnel insitutionalized violence inwards on ourselves and our intimate relationships are a result of an often cruel and dispassionate world. A world that does not honor or hold space for the unique journeys of our beautiful and diverse bodies, sophisticated minds, gentle hearts, and divine spirits.

Listen deeply—another powerful ancestor in our corner.

Repost/Full Post:

We are heartbroken beyond words. Our beloved Co-Founder, Executive and Artistic Director, Patty Berne, joined the ancestors on May 29, 2025.

In the weeks and months ahead, we will hold spaces to honor and celebrate Patty’s world-shifting legacy. As they would wish: we will mourn, we will make art, we will learn, we will resist—and you will be invited to join us. You are in our hearts.

This is all so hard. For now, our statement is available in ASL, English and Spanish through Instagram posts and through links in our bio. If you would like to respond, please use these hashtags:

If you are moved to support Sins Invalid in this difficult time, we thank you for your love and generosity. The link to donate is in our bio. You can contact the Sins Team at pattypresente@sinsinvalid.org

Image 1: Patty Berne,a Japanese-Haitian person with light brown skin, smiles playfully with love and light shining from their brown eyes. They wear an off the shoulder opalescent blue dress and an amethyst pendant. Their brown hair is pulled back into their signature two buns. Behind Patty is a pink background with radiant red and yellow flowers. At the top of the image, iridescent capital letters spell out “PATTY LIVES THROUGH US.” On the bottom right corner is Sins Invalid’s logo, a black rectangular box with white letters that read “Sins Invalid.”

Images 2-14: These slides alternate between light pink backgrounds with brown letters and dark pink with white letters; the Sins Invalid’s logo, a black rectangular box with white letters that read “Sins Invalid” on the top left corner. These slides contain our statement titled “In Memory and Power: Patty Berne.” To access the statement in ASL and in PDF form, please click the link in our bio.

I refuse. Even after the heartbreak yesterday, we must not lose hope. Without her, hate, apathy and cynicism will consume us, too. My heart refuses to hold any of that, even when I don’t understand it.

We don’t have to celebrate America on the heels of such devastation — but we must remember to hold onto hope a little bit tighter.

💁‍♀️ Real Talk: The world isn't all coffee and rainbows...

I feel like I've been saying this since November 😅 but it's been a month. While the festivities may have been heavier this year, it's a good reminder that Pride started as a protest. The + community crosses all other intersectional demographics, which means we have the privilege and responsibility to help others see that we're in it together. None of us is free unless all of us are free.

So take a deep breath, dear ones, and trust your resilience. Gather in the streets and collaborate in the coffee shops! The q***r community has always combatted shame with pride—they gave us a pink triangle, and we took the whole damn rainbow. 🌈 ✊

🏳️‍🌈 Even when you feel alone, community is everywhere.

It's incredible how you can have a long week, turn a corner, and find your heart (and belly) so full of tofu donburi 🍲 and small-town pride that you can't remember feeling hungry for hope in the first place. ✨ ☺️ ✨

Together's always better! 🤗 🤝 ✊

⚡ "You got to make your own worlds. You got to write yourself in." ~Octavia E. Butler

I felt so grateful to have stumbled upon the Women of Afrofuturism exhibit at the after a weekend full of community visioning at the National Transgender Health Summit ( ) earlier this month. It was a good reminder that there are always ways to look forward, even when it feels like there is so much that is backward about this moment in time.

This Juneteenth feels like a good time to honor the powerful voices of Black Women who have always held this vision for their communities. As many challenges as the world has thrown at them, it is Black Women who have continued to steward the belief that "there are black people in the future" into reality.

Thank you for teaching us how to write ourselves into the story. Here's to the rest of us working to show up and share the load. ✊

🚨 KNOW THE RULES BEFORE YOU POST 🚨 When immigration raids happen, panic spreads fast—and so can misinformation. That’s why it’s critical we report with accuracy, clarity, and care. Swipe through this guide before you post about ICE activity. Ask the right questions. Confirm the details. Document what you can. Don’t share rumors—share truth. 📍 Who? What? Where? Why? When? 📸 Do you have time-stamped, location-tagged visuals? 👥 Can someone else confirm what you saw? Being precise isn’t just about credibility—it can save lives and prevent harm. We stand with our undocumented communities and those doing mutual aid on the frontlines of this crackdown.
