Still doing the same 5 lb dumbbells and calling it strength training? It’s time to upgrade. 💪
If you’re in your 40s or 50s, especially in perimenopause, your body needs more than just “toning” to stay strong and age well. Real strength training means progressively lifting heavier weights and pushing to muscle fatigue — that’s how you actually build muscle, not just maintain it.

Start with what feels doable, but by the third set, you should be challenging your limits — whether that’s upping from 10 lbs to 20 lbs or adding reps. It’s not about lifting heavy for the sake of it, it’s about lifting smart and strong, especially during hormonal transitions.
