A valuable update for those with lymphedema that have questions regarding taking the vaccine. This is a valuable update I received from Lymphedema.org
Here’s the updated version:

With Covid-19 a lot of people have switched to work from home options and longer work hours. This is not a new info and I hope I don’t sound late to the game.
But what has been reported by several of my patients and also friends is shoulder pain, pain radiating down to their elbow or even lower in to their arms.
When I ask the details about their symptoms, I find out that their work posture and desk in not appropriate. A few simple ergonomic postural corrections can make a huge difference. Many think they are using an ergonomic mouse or a keyboard and hence they should be okay. But do not realize that by not appropriately using these devices they are causing extra pressure on their nerves and making their symptoms worse. A simple ergonomic consultation through telehealth can make a huge difference and help you perform your work in a productive way with less discomfort.

These postural corrections are not only for adults but also for your little munchkins who are now spending hours in front of their screens. Teach them to use their computers the right way, so going forward they don’t have issues.

Taking Advil or a pain reliever may help you get through the day but you are only masking the symptoms and not fixing what needs to be addressed.

Feel free to call me for a consultation or tips to set up your work station appropriately.

As a Lymphedema therapist, we often emphasize on self care management. As with any chronic disease management this is a huge step.
What do you do when there is no Lymphedema therapist available anywhere close by ? Thanks to technology Telehealth came to my rescue!
I had an opportunity to use telehealth to educate someone with non resolving swelling secondary to possible flare up of rheumatoid arthritis on self manual lymphatic drainage. This patient needed a whole body session of MLD. Patient reported feeling energetic after the session. Can’t wait to see her again this evening for the next session.
