“It’s 4:10 p.m. and my late-afternoon yoga class is less than an hour away. I’ve been looking forward to shutting this laptop down all day, but for some reason my needing to send one last email has turned into something of an afterwork albatross.

You see, this is the time of day when I start to make excuses for not going to yoga class. Is it muscle soreness? Could it be a full social schedule? Regardless, rarely are these reasons truthfully sufficient for missing class, but I think my excuses might actually be getting better—and that’s a problem. Help?

Legends yogis learned about the root chakra yesterday at the beginning of class from teacher Kris.

This chakra is at the base of the spine and is the closest to the Earth. It represents our connection to the physical world. It is linked to us feeling grounded, secure, and having our basic needs met.

Yogis later practiced Mountain pose and Malasana, among other asanas, which ground the body and allow for free energy flow.

Teacher Kris relayed that this month of October marks her 23rd year of practicing yoga. We congratulated her! 🧘‍♀️

I love hip openers ~ Pigeon, Lizard, Malasana, Cobbler, Low Lunge, Happy Baby, Half Frog, FireLog.

To me, they are excellent for hip mobility and flexibility. I crave hip openers!
