Patient Account Management Week 2025 is from October 12–18, 2025. Fulton State Hospital currently has two staff in the Patient Accounts section, and they act as a depository of revenues for Fulton State Hospital and provide banking services to our consumers. They maintain the consumer banking system and track all consumers’ funds – both deposits and expenditures. They deposit funds into the Canteen system so consumers can purchase items at our canteens. We appreciate you!

This week (Oct 12-18), please join us in celebrating Healthcare Security and Safety Week, which recognizes the critical role security and safety professionals play in creating a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Health care public safety and security officers are often the first responders to emergencies, workplace violence incidents and safety concerns. Their work ensures that others can focus on healing, and clients can feel secure, and visitors can trust the safety of hospitals and health system facilities. Their commitment is more important than ever.

This week (October 5–11), we’re proud to celebrate National Health Care Supply Chain Week — also known as Materials Management Appreciation Week! Our materials management staff play a crucial role behind the scenes every single day. From managing inventory, ordering and distributing supplies, replenishing gas tanks, and receiving equipment, to shipping items, and keeping our hospitals stocked and running smoothly — their work touches every corner of patient care. Your commitment ensures our hospitals are equipped to provide safe, quality care for patients and families. We couldn’t do it without you!

The first full week of October is Mental Illness Awareness Week, dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of mental health conditions. This annual event, led by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) since 1990, aims to reduce stigma and promote public education around mental health.

Please help us congratulate our October 2025 employee of the month! Larry Rivers SORTS, FRS III. Larry is one of the most positive people we have ever worked with. He is known for his upbeat, fun loving, and positive attitude. He is flexible and helps as needed each day to help ensure all tasks are complete. He comes in early, stays late and has even returned after leaving for the day to help with various tasks, such as mentoring or coaching employees, helping ward shake downs, or to assist with things that have unexpectedly occurred. He advocates for his staff and his patients. He brings up suggestions to better client care and working morale. He completes his duties as assigned but is always willing to go above and beyond to help as things come up. He is knowledgeable about not only SORTS but hospital policy and procedures. He has an open-door policy and staff are very comfortable talking to Larry and asking him for help as needed. He remains calm but can work quick in situations that arise while maintaining a great level of professionalism. He volunteers to do anything to help his co-workers including helping in NFC and HPC. Larry is someone that staff and the patients think the world of. He spent hours helping prepare for Joint Commission and did a great job while they were in SORTS. He is a role model to all staff. He is not an asset to SORTS but to FSH. Not only does he deserve employee of the month, but he also deserves employee of the year. Way to represent SORTS Larry.

Please help us congratulate our September employee of the month!
Jerry Wells is a program nurse manager on the New Outlook Program. If you’ve never met Jerry, one might describe him as “ray of sunshine.” He is also someone that can see the positive side of a situation and make others (staff and clients) hopeful. Not only does Jerry excel with his daily RN duties, but you will also see him out and about on the living area working with clients. Jerry is also an expert validator!! Jerry is such a critical part of the NOP staff. We are lucky to share his sunshine.

Changing the narrative on su***de aims to inspire individuals, communities, organizations, and governments to engage in open and honest discussions about su***de and suicidal behavior. By initiating these vital conversations, we can break down barriers, raise awareness, and create better cultures of understanding and support.
