The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the way people do business. Working from home has become the new normal for millions of Americans as the pandemic continues to cause massive disruption and devastation. While we have embraced the positives of no commute, and not having to “dress” to go to the office, there are negatives to working remotely – lack of social interaction, lack of face-to-face meetings, ability to spontaneously drop by a co-worker’s office for advice. This is being alleviated, however, by tech solutions such as Zoom and Teams that have employers reporting higher levels of motivation and productivity.

In a span of two weeks, the Federal Reserve issued an emergency rate cut for the second time. The rate has been lowered to a target range of 0.00 to 0.25 percent – levels we have not seen since the financial crisis. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) stated that “the coronavirus outbreak has harmed communities and disrupted economic activity in many countries, including the United States. The effects of the coronavirus will weigh on economic activity in the near term and pose risks to the economic outlook. In light of these developments, the Committee decided to lower the target range for the federal funds rate to 0 to 1/4 percent."
