Flexing in your 40’s!

If you’ve followed my page for a while, you’ve seen me post about running, hitting PRs in the gym, and fun mobility work, but today I want to talk about a whole new flex 💪

That flex is SLEEP 💤

Getting a good nights sleep is definitely something to be excited about. But how do you achieve the highly desired peaceful slumber? Here’s a few tips to get your night started off right!

1. Create a Relaxing Bedtime Routine
Engage in calming activities before bed, such as reading, meditating, or taking a warm bath. Aim to avoid stimulating activities.

2. Keep your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet.** Consider using blackout curtains, earplugs, or a white noise machine if needed.

3. Reduce screen time at least an hour before bed. The blue light emitted by phones, tablets, and computers can interfere with melatonin production.

Give some of these a try and let me know how it works for you. Remember, consistency and developing habits is the key to success with anything, that goes for sleep too!

💪Movement is a one of the best forms of self care. Find something you enjoy and work on it.

🧠If it’s tough, keep at it, it’s good not only for your body, but your brain will appreciate learning something new! It took me 45 minutes to get this little snippet, and this is only half of the routine, don’t stop if you don’t get it right out the gate, keep getting it!

🕵️‍♀️If there’s something you’re interested in and not sure where to start looking, reach out, I will be able to help find a place where you can ENJOY your movement. It shouldn’t be a chore.

Is Keith alone in his “feelings”? Does this interaction seem a bit “weird” to you too? Well it should!

Ladies, I’m going to take it upon myself to speak for massage therapists everywhere and say, we do not care if you haven’t shaved your legs.

Roughly 40% of my clients are men, and not once have I had one apologize for not shaving his legs. So why, as women, do we feel the need to apologize for hair growth? I’ll be honest with you, and this is just my opinion, but I prefer for there to be a little bit of stubble because it adds traction so that I’m not sliding all over the place.

So next time you come in for a massage don’t feel bad if you haven’t shaved in a month or so. We’re heading into winter, it gets cold. You might need that extra insulation. So let the hair flow and just don’t worry about it.
