Thank you to the Etowah Chamber for capturing and sharing highlights from our Second Look! It was a pleasure welcoming so many prospective residents to Gadsden again and giving them a closer look at our program, our faculty, and the incredible community we’re proud to serve. We enjoyed connecting, sharing our mission, and showcasing what makes training at Gadsden Regional Medical Center so special. Second Look gave us the opportunity to highlight our commitment to education, patient-centered care, and the support from so many partners throughout our community.

🍁 Falling for Family Medicine! 🍂

Our residents enjoyed some fall fun at an autumn get-together! This year’s theme: Soup-er Bowl & Pumpkin Showdown 🥣🎃

From soup-for-the-soul that could cure anything to pumpkin carvings that put the “art” in heart (and maybe a few that looked like they’d been on call too long 👀), everyone brought their A-game.

In true Family Medicine fashion, the competition was friendly, the laughter was loud, and the sense of community was the real prize. ❤️

Here’s to a team that knows how to care deeply, laugh often, and make even a soup competition feel like home.

🚨 Scavenger Hunt: Intern Edition! 🗺️

Last week, our interns took over Gadsden one clue at a time—racing to The Factory, GadRock, The Alley, and even the Imagination Place! 🧩☕🎨

From snapping selfies at the “Welcome to Gadsden” mural to catching their breath at Noccalula Falls, they explored the city like pros. Their final stop was at Back Forty where some of our faculty, upper-level residents, and families joined in for a well-earned celebration!

🪡🩺 In family medicine, you never know what the day will bring—so we train for it all. This afternoon, our faculty led our residents in a hands-on suturing workshop, sharpening their skills one suture at a time to provide excellent care for our patients. 👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️

Dr. Arnold graduated from the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003 & retired from the U.S. Air Force in mid-2023, having most recently held the position of Director of Medical Education at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
