“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

PONDER THIS

Pride often gets in the way of forgiveness. You say, “Don’t worry about it. It’s alright. It doesn’t matter.” That is not forgiveness. You know what causes you to say that? Your pride. It did matter. You were hurt. But you don’t want the other person to know you’ve been hurt.

Forgiveness is not politeness. It is not saying it really didn’t matter. When you come to God for forgiveness, do you think God says, “Oh, don’t worry about it”? No. Forgiveness is not politeness. Forgiveness is not merely accepting an apology, and forgiveness is not forgetting.

Forgetting is never the means of forgiveness. It is the result of forgiveness. God forgets our sins only because they have been forgiven. When you forgive, forgive freely, not after others paid the price. Seek them out to forgive them. Forgive fully as you have been forgiven.

When have you tried to ignore or avoid an issue rather than work through forgiveness?
Why is complete forgiveness so challenging? How do you typically respond outside of forgiveness?
PRACTICE THIS

Consider a conflict you have not dealt with or tried to forget about and move toward the person with forgiveness.

Etowah County Assumes Direct Emergency Management Services

GADSDEN, AL – August 29, 2025 – The Etowah County Commission announced today that effective Monday, September 1, 2025, it will begin directly providing Emergency Management Services to the citizens of Etowah County, in partnership with its local municipalities.

The Commission originally established the Etowah County Emergency Management Agency (ECEMA) in 1984, with service being provided through the Gadsden-Etowah EMA, but will now transition its operations in-house. Plans are underway to appoint an agency director, establish new offices, and open an Emergency Operations Center at the Etowah CountyCourthouse.

During the transition, Sheriff Jonathon Horton will serve as interim EMA Director, providing steady leadership until a permanent director is appointed. In addition, 911 Director Wil Reed and Etowah 911’s resources will continue supporting EMA operations both short and long-term.

Beginning September 1st, citizens may contact the Etowah County EMA directly at 256-549-5351 or by email at ema@etowahcounty.org.

As always, if you need immediate, lifesaving
assistance, dial 911.

Big news for the City of Gadsden! Phoenix Gadsden Industrial Investors LLC has reached a major deal to lease the former 2.9 million-square-foot Goodyear plant to Takkion, a global leader in renewable energy logistics. This new facility will serve as a storage and handling hub for solar panels and other clean energy materials headed to projects nationwide. This project will create up to 50 new jobs for the community.

I want to thank Phoenix Investors for working to make this deal happen. This deal takes an unoccupied building and fills it with a tenant from one of the fastest-growing industrial sectors in the world. Having a logistics company like Takkion in Gadsden will put us in the center of distribution for the entire renewable energy industry throughout the southeast. We’re excited to welcome them to our community!

Thank you to the team at the Gadsden Recycle Center for your great work. The facility looks clean, the trailers are emptied, and your teamwork shows. We appreciate your efforts to keep our city looking its best.

A special thank you to Marc Golden for all he does to keep things running smoothly.

Don’t forget, we have recycling trailers placed throughout the city to make it easy for everyone to do their part!

After weeks of productive negotiations, I’m proud to share that the City of Gadsden and Etowah County have officially reached an agreement on a new jail contract. This morning’s approval by the County Commission marks the first new contract between the city and county since 2023.

I want to personally thank Sheriff Horton for his leadership with Etowah County and the jail, and also the president of the Etowah County Commission, Joey Statum, for working with us. We were able to work together to make this good for all three parties involved. This contract makes it easier the next time we need to renegotiate, and it also improves the safety of Gadsden citizens. This allows our police officers to get back on the street faster instead of having to drive to Calhoun County. We've got some other things that we're working on together, and hopefully they'll work out in the future. It's better when we all come together and work together.
