75% of alcohol's damage does not feel like anything the next morning.

Five studies. Five systems:

↓ 75% nocturnal growth hormone (single night, ~4-5 drinks)
↓ REM sleep gutted in the second half of the night (all doses)
↓ 37% post-exercise muscle protein synthesis (~12 drinks, alcohol-only)
↓ Testosterone-to-estradiol ratio (habitual drinkers vs non-drinkers)
↑ 15% breast cancer risk at 3-6 drinks/week (N = 105,986 women, 28 years)

The first two happen after one session at moderate doses. The MPS finding used a high dose. The last two are chronic, habitual intake. None of them produces a hangover in the traditional sense.

I'm not making an abstinence argument. Just giving the actual numbers.
