When he told us he was going to retire at 90, we all knew he still had a lot of life left in him. Today we get to celebrate the 100th birthday of Mr. MD Floyd!

It was an honor to get to work beside him for all of those years and we're thankful for each day God let's him be here with us.

Congratulations, Tyeonna!

Blacksburg Elementary School has a new National Champion! Last Friday, Tyeonna Mays traveled to Staten Island, New York, where she competed in the 2025 USATF Indoor Track and Field competition, and she earned first place in Shot Put! She has been named the 2025 USATF Indoor National Champion in the 9-10 age division-Shot Put. Tyeonna also competed in the 55- and 200-meter sprints; she placed in the top 20 in both of those races.

Congratulations to CCSD’s National Champion! We are so proud of your accomplishments!!!

Someone has spoofed our telephone number and has been making calls all over the upstate today. We apologize if you've been receiving calls from us today, and our telephone company has informed us there isn't anything we can do to prevent it.

This isn't our immediate area, but still something we feel you should be aware of. We're pretty confident that no funeral home in our community would call you and require a payment over the phone through a system like PayPal. If you ever get suspicious, please hang up and call the funeral home directly.

Criminals are monitoring obituaries and then posing as funeral home employees. They call family members and ask for a downpayment for the funeral.
