Ever wonder what’s actually happening during Reiki?
While the body remains completely still and supported, the nervous system begins to shift out of “fight or flight” and into a parasympathetic, restorative state — where the body does its best repair work.
The practitioner’s hands move gently within the body’s energetic field, sometimes lightly touching you, to help bring awareness and balance to the body’s energy centers. These centers can hold patterns of stress, emotion, or depletion, especially when we’ve been in a constant state of doing or overdrive.
As the energy centers begin to regulate, the system as a whole becomes more coherent. Breath slows, circulation improves, tension softens, and energy can redistribute in a way that feels grounding, calming, and often deeply clarifying.
Melissa often has insightful intuitive messages that come through as well, unique to each person’s journey at the moment.
During or after a session, people often describe feeling deeply relaxed, lighter, emotionally clear, or simply more present in their body — sometimes immediately, sometimes gradually. Reiki creates the conditions for the body to return to balance in its own time. ✨
