In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the lungs do so much more than move air in and out of your body. They are the organ of Qi, immunity, and energy circulation.

Here’s what they do:
✨ Govern Qi & respiration – they help energy move through the body
✨ Control the skin & body fluids – your first line of defense
✨ Are connected to emotions – grief, sadness, or unresolved emotions can affect lung function

When lung Qi is balanced → you feel strong, energized, and resilient.
When it’s weak or blocked → you may notice fatigue, colds, skin issues, or emotional heaviness.

Swipe through to see how TCM understands the lungs and ways to support them naturally 🌬️

💡 Tip: Deep, mindful breathing, seasonal herbs, acupuncture, and gentle movement can help your lungs stay strong.

✨ Traditional Chinese Medicine has a beautiful, nuanced understanding of women’s health—honoring the natural rhythms, phases, and wisdom of the body.

TCM works to restore balance at the root—supporting menstrual health, hormone regulation, emotional wellbeing, and fertility, all at each phase with your body’s natural rhythm unique to you.

Whether you’re trying to conceive, managing cycle imbalances, painful periods, or simply seeking to feel more connected and supported in your body—acupuncture offers a path that meets you where you are. 💛

This medicine was made for you, as you are ✨

Sessions are custom to your specific imbalances, but also the specific phase of your cycle each time you come in. The opposite of ‘one size fits all’, a bandaid fix, or suppressing the body’s cues.

We listen, we assess, and we harmonize 💫

Did you know your pulse tells the story of your entire body?

In Chinese medicine, pulse reading is one of our most powerful diagnostic tools. When I take your pulse, I’m not just checking your heart rate—I’m listening to how your body communicates and what organ systems are imbalanced as it paints a holistic picture of your health.

TCM Acupuncturists read six pulse positions total:
- Three on the left wrist: Heart/Small Intestine, Liver/Gallbladder, Kidney Yin
- Three on the right wrist: Lung/Large Intestine, Spleen/Stomach, Kidney Yang

Each position has three levels—superficial, middle, and deep—allowing us to understand what’s happening on the exterior of the body, in the organs themselves, and deep within the root systems of your Qi, Blood, and Essence.

Together, these six positions and three depths create a full-body energetic map, giving insight into organ function, stress patterns, digestion, circulation, hormones, emotions, and overall balance of the body.

There are 28 types of pulses in TCM (and even more depending on lineage) such as floating, wiry, slippery, choppy, thin, weak, rapid, and more.

Case Highlight: Hyperthyroidism with Goiter 🌿✨

Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of working with this patient on a complex thyroid case — and the progress we’ve seen is inspiring. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can be powerful tools for supporting thyroid health, helping balance energy, reduce inflammation, and promote overall wellness.

Goiters are considered an accumulation of phlegm and stasis. The sessions combine local and distal acupuncture to balance the Liver, yin and Qi while resolving dampness.

I aim to meet people where they are, whether that means acupuncture alone, Chinese herbal supplements, nutritional supplements, loose-leaf teas, or a combination — all tailored to their unique needs and health goals.

And cases like this remind me why I entered this field — to help people navigate complex health challenges with compassion, natural care, and personalized support. I love working with patients who are committed to holistic solutions, even when meaningful change takes months. The journey is deeply rewarding — not just for the visible results, but for the trust, collaboration, and growth we experience together.

Every small improvement matters, and each step forward is a victory for your health. 💛

In Chinese medicine, the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) show us that the body is more than individual organs—they reveal the interconnectedness of all organ systems.

Each Element has its own organs, season, emotion, and energy, and they also help generate and regulate one another, creating balance and harmony. ✨

When assessing and treating patients, looking through the lens of the Five Elements is essential. It allows us to see patterns in the whole system, not just isolated symptoms or organs, which is what makes Chinese medicine truly holistic.

Acupuncture works with these cycles to restore flow and support the body’s natural healing.

Ever wonder what that sound is during acupuncture?👀

That gentle brushing, clicking sound you hear in this video is the spring of the head of the needle brushing against the plastic guide tube as it is being pulled away… a tiny ASMR moment ✨

There are many types of acupuncture needles—different brands, metals, coatings, handle styles, and levels of sharpness. Some feel rough, some drag a little, and some… glide like silk. 🪡

These are the ones I use in clinic because they are truly smooth as butter 🧈
They’re ultra-fine, high-quality needles designed for minimal sensation and maximum comfort. Most people barely feel them—just a light tap and a wave of relaxation.

Acupuncture isn’t meant to hurt.
It’s meant to regulate the nervous system, shift you into parasympathetic calm, and help your body process stress, pain, and tension.
And yes… sometimes even the sound of the treatment can be grounding.

If you’re curious about what acupuncture feels (and sounds) like, enjoy this little behind-the-scenes moment. 🫶 I love the sound, but I am biased 😉

Did you know loose-leaf herbal teas are more effective than bagged teas? 🌿

Loose-leaf blends use whole herbs — not the broken-down dust often found in tea bags — which means they retain more of their natural oils, aroma, and active compounds. This makes them richer in both flavor and therapeutic benefits.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each herb has its own energetic nature — some are warming and circulate Qi, others are cooling and calm the mind, while others strengthen digestion or nourish Yin. When combined thoughtfully, they support your body’s unique needs and help bring it back into balance.

Brewing loose-leaf herbs also allows them to fully expand and release their properties, creating a cup that’s both restorative and medicinal. It’s one of my favorite ways to make herbal medicine part of daily self-care — simple, grounding, and deeply nourishing.

✨ Whether it’s for digestion, stress, sleep, or energy — the right blend can make a noticeable difference in how you feel.

Many people assume acupuncture and dry needling are the same — but they’re actually very different in both training, technique, and philosophy.

🌿 Acupuncture is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It uses fine, gentle techniques to activate the body’s own healing response — improving circulation, calming the nervous system, and restoring balance.

A treatment often includes both local and distal points, meaning we treat where it hurts and the underlying system that’s causing the issue. This supports whole-body healing and longer-lasting relief.

💥 Dry needling is typically more aggressive and focuses only on muscle trigger points to release local tension. While it can be effective for short-term relief, it doesn’t address the root imbalance or restore overall balance in the body.

Both approaches use needles — but acupuncture is a comprehensive medical system designed to treat the whole person, not just one area of pain. 🌿

🌿 Choosing the Right Herbal Form for You

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbs can be taken in many forms — and each has its own benefits. The “best” form often depends on your lifestyle, preferences, and how your body responds. Here’s a quick guide 👇

💊 Capsules & Tablets
Perfect for convenience and consistency. Easy to travel with and great for those who prefer a tasteless option with precise dosing.

💧 Liquid Tinctures
Herbal extracts in glycerin or alcohol. Fast-absorbing and customizable. Excellent for acute conditions or when quick results are desired.

🍵 Loose-Leaf Tea
Dry herbs allowing for deep nourishment and connection to the herbal process. Ideal for long-term tonification or digestive balance.

Granules
Herb matter ground into powder to be mixed with warm water. Highly effective, but not as convenient.

🫖 Teabags
Simple and effective for daily support. Great for maintaining balance and promoting gentle, ongoing wellness.

Each form offers unique benefits — the key is choosing what helps you stay consistent while supporting your individual health goals. 🌱

As a licensed acupuncturist, I typically use tablets for convenience, but aim to match the needs of my patients and their unique treatment plan.
