Why does Melissa start her Reiki sessions at the Crown Chakra? 🌟

The crown chakra is our energetic gateway to higher awareness, clarity, and connection to our true selves. By opening it first, Melissa sets the stage for energy to flow freely through your entire body, creating a ripple effect of balance and calm. ✨🙂‍↔️

Starting at the crown isn’t just a step—it’s like tuning your inner antenna to receive guidance, release blocks, and step into deeper healing. 💫

She energetically assesses and clears your busy mind to set the tone for the rest of the energy balancing session head to toe 💗

If you need help with anything cycle related, acupuncture and TCM will change your life 🙂‍↔️

Women’s health has become a deep passion and specialization of mine because TCM has such a beautiful way of understanding the complexity of the menstrual cycle and how to regulate and balance everything.

Acupuncture treatments are typically guided by where you are in your cycle that day and what we need to work on regulating so that over time, your body ebbs and flows hormonally with ease.

The results speak for themselves - little to no cramps, less clots, better flow color, and regular cycles 💗

In TCM, your cycle is more than a hormonal timeline; it’s an energetic rhythm representing key vital signs. ✨

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each phase of the menstrual cycle reflects shifts in Yin, Yang, Qi, and Blood, guided by the Chong and Ren meridians and mirrored by hormones like estrogen, progesterone, LH, and FSH. When these systems are in balance, the cycle flows with more ease, clarity, and stability.

When working with my female patients, especially when fertility is the focus, I am always checking in on where they are in their cycle because this will often dictate the treatment that day.

During acupuncture, the goal is to provide balance in every phase of your cycle, which is constantly changing. This is why weekly treatments are typically recommended for 3-6 months to see the most progress in cycle health and fertility.

Understanding your cycle through a TCM lens allows you to support your body intentionally, nourish when needed, move when energy peaks, and rest when release is required. There is much more to the cycle than just what is in these slides, but it will get you started! ;)

Support doesn’t have to end when your session does 🤍

Our ear seed add-on uses the NADA protocol—a simple yet powerful system of points on the ear traditionally used to help regulate the nervous system, ease stress, and support emotional balance.

Think of it as a gentle, continuous reminder for your body to come back to center… even in the middle of a busy week.

Clients often notice:
• feeling more grounded
• less reactivity to stress
• improved sense of calm

It’s subtle, but effective—and designed to support you between treatments, not just during them.

Add ear seeds to your next session for that extra layer of support ✨

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Spleen plays a much more crucial role than just being a digestive organ. In fact, compared to modern/conventional medicine, the Spleen is highly important for our health and vitality. 💚

The Spleen is the foundation of nourishment, energy, and stability. It transforms foods and liquids into Qi and Blood, the essential components that fuel daily energy, support digestion, regulate menstruation, enhance mental focus, and strengthen the immune system.

🌎 When the Spleen is balanced, we feel grounded, clear, and steadily energized. When weakened by stress, overthinking, irregular eating, or excessive cold or raw foods, symptoms such as fatigue, bloating, dampness, brain fog, menstrual irregularities, or allergy tendencies may surface.

In TCM, many imbalances stem from how well the body can transform and transport nourishment. Strengthening the Spleen strengthens the foundation. And if you have heard the viral “no cold drinks per Chinese Medicine” trend, this is where it matters: cold drinks/foods deplete the Spleen, which can cause poor digestion and low energy over time.

💚 Protect your Spleen best by consuming broths and warm liquids, like teas, and by avoiding consistently consuming cold or sugary foods/drinks.

The [modified] NADA protocol 🌀👂

Auricular acupuncture is based on the microsystem within acupuncture that views the ear as representation of the entire body. The way you can visualize it is by picturing the ear as an upside down fetus. There are many points in the ear that can access the organ systems and physical areas of the body for deep healing just using the ear.

The NADA protocol is a heavily studied set of 5 auricular acupuncture points to help regulate the nervous system for addiction and recovery support, PTSD, and other forms of nervous system dysregulation—especially helpful for chronic stress, hormonal imbalances, detoxification, emotional overwhelm, or burnout. These points are also incredibly supportive when you’re moving through a trauma or a difficult phase of life 🤍

NADA stands for National Acupuncture Detoxification Association — It’s the group that developed this specific auricular acupuncture protocol originally to support addiction and substance withdrawal recovery.

These are the points used:
• Shen Men → calms the mind + reduces stress
• Point Zero (instead of Sympathetic) → brings the body back to homeostasis
• Kidney → supports grounding + fear response
• Liver → helps with emotional flow + detox pathways
• Lung → supports grief, release, and breathing

You might feel some of these points a little more intensely (“spicy” 🌶️) since the ear is cartilage—but the effects are 100% worth it.

Depending on your case, I often include some or all of these points in your acupuncture sessions. I also use them in my ear seeds add-on (with press magnets) to give you continued support between treatments ✨

This is one of my favorite ways to help your body reset, regulate, and feel safe again.

A lot of people carry their stress right here — in the neck and shoulders.

Between long hours on computers, looking down at phones, driving, and everyday stress, the neck and upper traps end up holding a lot of tension.

Over time, that tension can travel up into the small muscles at the base of the skull (your sub-occipitals) and contribute to headaches and chronic tension. 😣

In Jessica’s Custom Relaxation massage service, slow work through the neck and upper traps helps loosen the larger muscles that tend to tighten from posture and stress.

She pairs this with gentle, but firm, trigger point work at the base of the skull, slowly melting away the tight sub-occipital muscles that are often involved in headaches. 🫠

When these muscles finally relax, people often notice:
• fewer headaches
• reduced headache intensity
• less neck and shoulder tension
• easier neck movement/mobility

Sometimes your body isn’t “tight”… it’s just been holding too much for too long. 💗

Acne isn’t just a surface issue; it’s a systemic pattern.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we assess and treat the type of acne breakout you experience; treatments are tailored to your specific type of acne. White pus lesions, red, inflamed bumps, deep cystic acne, and purple scarring all stem from different internal imbalances, including Damp-Heat and Lung Heat, as well as Liver Qi stagnation and Blood stagnation.

Acupuncture and TCM don’t just look at the skin; they assess digestion, stress patterns, the tongue and pulse, and how your breakouts align with your menstrual cycle and hormones (super important!). 🤍

For chronic cases and/or cystic acne, we often combine acupuncture with customized herbal formulas to address the root, along with Cosmetic acupuncture for scars. Because we’re regulating internal systems, not suppressing symptoms, treatment can take 6–24 months, depending on the severity of the case.

👩🏻‍⚕️ Sasha’s natural, holistic, TCM-based approach to acne does take time, such as months, maybe even years. Noticeable changes occur along the way, including fewer breakouts, breakouts resolving faster, or changes in the severity of the breakouts. ✨

Reiki is a gentle form of energy healing designed to calm the nervous system and restore energetic balance in the body.

Unlike massage or bodywork, Reiki is done with very light or minimal touch, with the practitioner moving through the body’s energetic field to help release areas of stagnation, stress, or emotional buildup.

Many people describe feeling warmth, subtle waves of relaxation, or a deep sense of calm during the session that lasts long after it is over.

It’s quiet, subtle work, but often deeply powerful.

Chinese Medicine Day is a day to recognize one of the world’s oldest and continuously practiced medical systems, especially because it has had to fight to get here!

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been developing for over 2,000 years through attentive observation, clinical experience, and the preservation of critical medical texts such as Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon). These early texts introduced the foundational ideas that practitioners still use today, including Yin-Yang theory, the Five Elements, the meridian system, and the concept of Qi.

What separates Chinese medicine from Modern medicine is its system-based approach. Rather than focusing only on symptoms or disease names, it looks at patterns within the body and how different systems interact. More importantly, it sees living beings as microcosm of nature and the universe as a whole and often uses nature as its teacher 🌎

Chinese Medicine based treatments (provided by Licensed Acupuncturists with a Master’s degree in Acupuncture) may include acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, dietary therapy, and lifestyle guidance, which are all aimed at supporting the body’s ability to regulate and restore balance.

Chinese Medicine Day is a chance to appreciate the history, knowledge, and clinical tradition that have been passed down for generations, and continue to help people around the world today! ☯️💕

Jessica’s massage sessions are never routine. 🙂‍↔️

She works with intention, rhythm, and flow, using slow forearm techniques to reach deeper layers of tension while allowing the body to fully relax.

Each session is completely customized based on what your body needs in that moment.

The result: deeper release, better circulation, and a nervous system that finally downshifts. 🫠

If you’ve been carrying stress in your back, shoulders, or neck, this kind of work makes all the difference.

I often hear “I carry my stress in my neck and shoulders” or that tension headaches often start at the base of the head. Well TCM actually has an explanation for this...

Neck and shoulder tension isn’t random, and in Traditional Chinese Medicine, it reflects patterns and imbalances.

A ‘Wind-Cold invasion’ can lodge in the upper body and create stiffness that improves with warmth.

‘Liver Qi stagnation’ from chronic stress often rises upward, tightening the neck and shoulders. The Gallbladder meridian runs up the back of the neck and across the entire head, so it is common to see tension headaches with this pattern.

Gallbladder channel tension runs directly through the neck and shoulder region, making it a common site for pain and restriction, often when we say “I carry my stress in my neck and shoulders”..

Many cases are layered. Stress patterns, posture, hormonal shifts, and musculoskeletal imbalances often overlap, which is why treatment must address both the root and the branch through many modalities and treatment approaches over time.

Combining all modalities brings best results and progress. But the real win? The way the unique system of TCM is able to understand the complexity of the deep, underlying imbalances that cause these patterns to begin with ❤️ ☯️
