During today’s OT session, she worked on alternating hand dribbling to address bilateral coordination, motor planning, and postural control. You may notice her tongue sticking out while concentrating, this is often due to neural overflow, where the intense brain activity needed for a challenging motor task spreads to nearby areas controlling the mouth and facial muscles.
It’s a common sign that a child is working at the edge of their skill level and actively developing new motor patterns.
