Comprehensive eye physicians in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. John Dryfuss started practicing ophthalmology in Gainesville in 1975. Drs. Both Drs.

In September 2013 he welcomed Dr. Lauren McDonald to his practice. Dryfuss and McDonald offer comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages. Some of the diverse services offered include complete eye exams, contact lens fitting, glaucoma management, cataract surgery, diabetic eye exams, functional eyelid surgery and pediatric eye exams. Dr. Dryfuss obtained his medical degree from New York Medical College, and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Naval Medical Center. Dr. McDonald obtained her medical degree from the University of Florida, and completed her residency in ophthalmology at Vanderbilt University. Dryfuss and McDonald have strong ties to north central Florida and are proud to call Gainesville home!

Introducing a wonderful addition to our Gainesville Ophthalmology team, Dr. Rowe! Dr. Stephanie Rowe graduated with honors from Valdosta State University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2005. In her clinic rotations, she was selected to receive the Southern Educational Congress of Optometry (SECO) Award for Clinical Excellence and the Luxottica Award of Excellence in Clinical Pediatric Care and Vision Therapy. In 2006, Dr. Rowe completed a one-year residency in Primary Eye Care with an emphasis in Binocular Vision and Pediatric Optometry. During her residency, she gained additional training in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease in adults. She also gained advanced training in primary optometric care of pediatric patients. During her residency, she was awarded Nova Southeastern University’s Resident of the Year. She has lectured on diabetic and hypertensive eye disease, contact lens use for children, and “pink eye” in children. Dr. Rowe has also published numerous articles on examination techniques for children with Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, and autism. Dr. Rowe is board certified and licensed to practice optometry in the state of Florida and Georgia. We are so excited to have her join our team!
