Tenderness thrives in safety.
Without it, the body learns to brace, numb, or pull away — not because it’s broken, but because it’s protecting something precious.

This is the foundation of meaningful, authentic connection.

Co-regulation works best when it’s rooted in choice — not obligation.

From a nervous system lens, boundaries aren’t walls.
They’re what allow connection to be sustainable.

Protective responses are not something to eliminate.
They’re something to understand.

When met with curiosity and compassion, protection often softens — not because it’s forced to, but because it finally feels seen.

❤️ If this speaks to you, share it with someone you love and follow .

Love that asks your nervous system to self-abandon isn’t love — it’s survival.

When connection requires you to override your body’s signals, ignore your limits, or stay present at the cost of safety, your nervous system is doing what it knows how to do: protect.

A brave heart doesn’t force openness.
It listens.
It honors boundaries.
It moves at the pace of safety.

Courage doesn’t live in pushing through or staying endlessly open.
From a somatic perspective, courage is the capacity to stay present without collapsing, numbing, or overriding yourself.

A brave heart is regulated, discerning, and tender.
It knows when to open — and when to rest.

This month is an invitation to explore love that honors safety, boundaries, and the wisdom of the body with The Art of Cultivating Authentic Relationships. Comment RELATIONSHIPS for info.

Your nervous system is always communicating.
It knows when connection feels nourishing — and when rest is the wiser choice.

Honoring that rhythm isn’t avoidance.
It’s embodied intelligence.

Courage is often quiet.
It might feel like a deep breath where urgency once lived, or a softening where tension has been holding on.

The body knows how to move toward courage — when we listen instead of demand.

My Story

Hi, I’m Keri Johnson, PhD, LMHC, CDWF. I’m here to support you in rising from life’s falls, rumble with the emotions present in those face down moments, and create a revolution in your life, by re-authoring the stories that are no longer serving you.

It is my mission to offer quality therapeutic services to all, regardless of age, race/ethnicity, religious affiliation, gender identification, sexual orientation, or economic status. I am deeply passionate about supporting individuals through the various ebbs and flows, those struggles and successes that undoubtedly unfold over the chapters of one's life. For the last couple decades, the phenomena of yoga and mindfulness have been fascinations of mine both on and off the yoga mat. My sister introduced me to yoga and meditation when I was in grade school, and my personal practice has blossomed out of that first exposure many moons ago. Ignited by personal experience, supported by accredited trainings with world-renown scholars, and woven together with modern empirical research, the foundational components of my therapeutic approach are rooted in: trauma, mindfulness, authenticity, vulnerability, courage, self-compassion, and non-judgmental transparency. I am honored to work with you as you embark on exploring the various facets and nuances that create the constellation of attributes of you.
