Today's post is a heartfelt Friday post sharing gratitude to Miss Ocala Teen Noelle Schnacky whose passion for raising awareness of congenital heart defects led her to work towards having the county of Alachua officially proclaim December 8 as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome Awareness Day. This Day of Declaration holds a special place in Noelle's heart, as it honors the memory of her cousin Tyler, who sadly passed away at the age of 15 due to a congenital heart defect. Noelle is also the founder of Hope for Heart Kids, a non-profit organization that regularly fundraises to support the UF Congenital Heart Center ensuring support and resources for congenital heart defect research and treatment.

Our very own, Dr. Jennifer Co-Vu also recently made a public announcement for HLHS Awareness Day on Gainesville’s TV20 station, highlighting the importance of the proclamation in raising awareness and fostering support for patients and families affected by HLHS. What a special way to recognize our brave patients and bring awareness to this serious health condition.

Heartfelt moments and big strides! The UF team raised an incredible $2,171 at the Jacksonville Congenital Heart Walk, which aims to to support The Children's Heart Foundation's mission: to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects by funding research. Huge thanks to our patients, families, and doctors who walked alongside us. Seeing our community come together for congenital heart awareness made it a day to remember! ❤️

What began as a way to honor the memory of their infant daughter, Harley Jo, has become a heartfelt tradition for this generous couple. Thankful for the care and compassion they received in a time of need, Jacob and Donyia Sameck support the Congenital Heart Center through gift deliveries. We are moved by their story and generosity, and we are eager to continue providing compassionate care to our patients, in memory of Harley Jo.

Followed by a rolling cart loaded with bags of stuffed animals, dolls, books and more, Jacob and Donyia Sameck easily navigated the familiar hallways of UF…
