🌿 Focus of the Month: The Yamas
In the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali, the Yamas are the first limb of the 8-limb path, as a set of five guiding principles for how we live, speak, relate, and move in the world. The Yamas are invitations of how to live in right relationship.
You can think of them as five petals of the same wildflower, each one helping you live with more awareness, more truth, and more tenderness. They remind us of who we are beneath the noise and commotion of our world, and teach us how to live with more intentionality and integrity.
✨ Ahimsa: Non-harming
Move gently. Speak kindly. Let compassion lead, even in hard moments.
🪞 Satya: Truthfulness
Be honest with yourself and others. Show up as you are. Let your truth be soft, clear, and steady.
🌀 Asteya: Non-stealing
Trust in your own pace and path. Let go of the urge to take on more than you need: time, energy, attention, material things. You are whole as you are.
🔥 Brahmacharya: Right use of energy
Protect your energy. Let your focus be sacred. Choose what restores you.
🍃 Aparigraha: Non-grasping, non-attachment
Loosen your grip. Release control, expectations, and old stories. Trust the unfolding.
🌸 Let these teachings root into your everyday life, gently guiding you back to what matters most.
