Focus of the Month : Mauna 🪶
January carries the energy of deep winter, a time when life moves underground and growth happens quietly. After the solstice, the world slows, roots strengthen, life becomes less concerned with urgency or doing.
This month’s focus is Mauna: The Internal State of Silence; Intentional Quiet.
In Sanskrit, mauna comes from the root mun: to contemplate, to be inwardly attentive. 🤫
Mauna is not about enforcing silence or removing sound. It is the quiet beneath the chaos of the mind. A conscious turning inward, where listening becomes the primary focus and awareness deepens. 🕊️
In yogic philosophy, Mauna is the intentional practice of limiting unnecessary speech, preserving prana and conserving energy for inner clarity and spiritual growth.
Mauna invites us to slow down, soften outward effort, and pause beneath the surface to reflect on what is really important.
Less doing. More sensing. Fewer words.
This silence is a space to notice breath, sensation, and the subtle intelligence of rest. This is a practice of discipline and self-awareness, allowing energy to be gathered rather than dispersed.
This is the space where we develop willpower and inner peace.
Here, stillness is not stagnation. Quiet is not empty. Mauna is quietude and presence; a practice of conscious silence that supports patience, detachment, and deep listening for attunement.
This month, we practice presence over performance.
Containment over output.
Listening over doing.
We invite you to move with this energy, and to rest within it.
