This account is coming out of hibernation because I’ve got some new content up on my channel!

I’m collaborating with a colleague at the to create an outreach piece on mindfulness for healthy aging. We’re including two short yoga practices and two short meditation practices, taught by yours truly.

One of them is a 20-minute mini class working on balancing. You can find it through the link in my bio! Enjoy!

I’m excited to announce a new class at a new location! (Don’t worry, yogis, classes will return at The Ark once we’re past this heat 🥵)

This class will focus on things important for athletes (but no, you don’t need to identify as an athlete to join. Or even be a member of the ! All women are welcome!)

Class will focus on three main things. First, yoga is known for creating flexibility. However, as athletes, we want mobility – flexibility with strength and stability, so while we’ll be exploring traditional yoga poses, we’ll also be adding in activation to make sure we have functional range of motion, not just flexibility.

Second, class will follow a slow-paced vinyasa flow format, which is excellent for active recovery (way better for your recovery than just sitting on your couch all day)!

Third, classes will each have a different mindfulness and/or breathwork component, with an emphasis on skills that will help you perform better in the gym.

Classes will be designed for everyone and every body, regardless of your skill level. And no, you don’t need to be flexible to start doing yoga!

$110 for the series

DM me with your email address and we can get you set up in the Lift Lab system and signed up for class!

With closing at the end of the week, tonight will be my last evening teaching there 😔

From the first moment that I stepped onto those glorious cork floors (I’m not sure how many years ago!), I was absolutely in love with the space. And then the teachers and classes took that love up another few notches.

About two years ago, as I pulled into the parking lot again for the first time after many months of practicing yoga online (thanks, Covid), I started crying tears of joy at finally being back at the studio. I had missed the space and its people so much.

Tonight, I’m pretty certain there will be a different kind of tears flowing after class. I am really going to miss this studio, and all of its amazing students and teachers.

If you’re willing to brave my tears, I’d love to see you tonight at 6pm. All are welcome.

I have only three more classes at left (including this evening!) before the studio closes 😭😭 Come join me for a class in their beautiful space!

And we’ve got 3 months left of classes at before we’ll take a break for summer adventures. ⛰🌅🌄 We’re in a rare gap between polar plunge yoga and hot yoga, so if the weather has been holding you back from coming, it’s perfect right now!

New Blog Post! An update on my experiments trying to manage intermittent insulin resistance and blood sugar crashes. Spoiler- there’s been major progress!

https://thepcosprofessor.com/myownexperiences

You might also notice that there’s a new website! The formal launch of that and my new Instagram account (.pcos.professor) is coming soon! But feel free to give that new account a follow if you’re so inclined… 🙏🏼

Lastly, there’s been a bit of uproar about promoting diet culture, and this post is in the same vein as her content. While I’m all for banishing unhelpful elements of diet culture, for many people with health challenges, diet can play a huge role in managing those challenges.

Every person is unique. Tracking and minimizing carb consumption or blood sugar spikes might be very unhealthy for someone with a history of eating disorders. And it’s completely unnecessary for someone with great blood sugar control. But for someone with a genetic predisposition to insulin resistance (and thus also diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and more), putting some boundaries on carbohydrate consumption is paramount for me to live a long and healthy life. It has also markedly reduced my last remaining pesky PCOS symptoms (my next blog post!).

I hope that we can respect each other’s unique needs so that we can all thrive.

My first nutrition therapy client has loads of stress. She could really benefit from adding some meditation into her life, but doesn’t have time for anything new (maybe this feels familiar to you…).

She parks on the edge of campus and has about a 5 minute walk to her office each morning and back again in the evening.

To help her sneak a little stress relief into her busy day, I’ve created a short guided walking meditation.

Perhaps you’ve got a short walk that could use some mindfulness as well? If so, you can find this video in the link in my bio. Enjoy!
