Building a healthy foundation for The Gator Nation since 1906, the UF Student Health Care Center (SHCC) is an accredited outpatient facility staffed by licensed, board-certified health care professionals committed to helping all patients achieve maximum physical and emotional health. BILLING & INSURANCE

At the SHCC, the tuition-included University health fee covers patient financial responsibility associated with most office visits — for example, when a health care provider evaluates a sick patient but does not order any tests, procedures or prescriptions. NOTE: The health fee, a UF fee paid as part of tuition, goes to many campus-wide health initiatives and does not cover all possible medical charges at the SHCC. As a service to our patients, the SHCC will forward a claim to a commercial insurance carrier if all appropriate information — including the policy number, group number and company mailing address — is provided. NOTE: While SHCC staff is available to help, it is the patient’s responsibility to know what their insurance policy covers, and the patient is ultimately liable for any charges not covered by insurance. Contact the insurance company in advance of care to learn about policy benefits in detail. For current information and deadlines related to the Mandatory Health Insurance requirement for all students beginning at UF Summer 2014 or later, please visit http://studentinsurance.shcc.ufl.edu. Visit the "Fees & Insurance" area of the SHCC website for more detailed information about health insurance options: www.shcc.ufl.edu/fees-and-insurance.

🚨Meeting the Need.

Thanks to Jeff Phillips, RN and nursing supervisor at UF Student Health Care Center, students now have a safer, simpler way to dispose of sharps on campus.

Before? It meant a 20-minute trek off-campus. 😓

Now? Just steps away.👍

In honor of his commitment to student well-being, Jeff was named a 2025 Champion for Change Award winner.🏅

Your water bottle isn’t just a hydration tool, it’s a full-on ✨ vibe ✨. Whether you’re carrying around a gallon like it’s your emotional support jug 💪 or sipping iced coffee and hoping that it counts (spoiler: it still doesn’t 🙅‍♀️), your bottle of choice says a lot about you! 🌊

From trendy tumbler royalty 👑 to the loyal filtered water pitcher crew 🚰, every sip tells a story. Whether you're hydrating like a pro or trying your best, there's no wrong way to show up (as long as you're showing up with water).

🚨 You’ve been visited by the Hydration Gator 🐊
That’s your signal to pause, sip, and hydrate.
Drinking enough water isn’t just about avoiding thirst. Hydration plays a BIG role in your energy levels, focus, mood, and even your skin and digestion. 💧

According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, your fluid needs depend on factors like your age, s*x, activity level and overall health. You may need extra hydration if you’re:
☀️ In the Florida heat
🏃 Exercising
☕ Drinking caffeine
🤒 Running a fever

Not sure you’re drinking enough? Check your urine color:
✅ Pale yellow = hydrated
⚠️ Dark yellow or amber = time to drink up

Pro tip: Keep a reusable water bottle nearby and sip throughout the day. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty.
