UF Equal Access Clinic Network

UF Equal Access Clinic Network Equal Access is a network of student-run free healthcare clinics established by the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida.

Pre-medical and health professional student volunteers in collaboration with the University of Florida faculty and staff provide care for the underserved in the community. Clinics are held most Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please visit the For Patients page for additional information including clinic locations and hours. Our clinics are made possible through the generous contributions of our student and faculty volunteers as well as funding from the community and our partners listed below. EACN Research Program applications for Spring 2022 are now open! We work closely within the Equal Access Clinic Network, with 3 major divisions - Clinical Research, Literature Review, and Initiatives. Please visit our website for more details: https://www.eacnresearch.com/.

This program aims to expose undergraduates to various types of research, based on your interests, while investigating ways to advance healthcare delivery for the underserved community. Our health outreach & quality improvement (HOQI) application for Spring 2022 is now open! The HOQI program is an undergraduate volunteer program that gives students exposure to the healthcare field while helping improve the quality of patient care and experiences. General responsibilities include taking patients’ vitals, performing data entry, and completing follow-up calls outside of clinic time, among other tasks. Students are expected to volunteer one evening per week (Mon-Thurs) at one of our four primary care clinics and attend two general body meetings per semester.

Below are the requirements for those who may be interested in applying:
1. You must be a UF undergraduate student able to satisfy a three-semester minimum volunteer period, beginning with the Spring 2022 term.
2. We require our volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and get their annual flu shot.

For this week’s episode in the EACN Health Education Series, we are elated to share our interview with pediatrician, Dr. Adrienne Mott-Young.

Dr. Mott-Young is also an assistant professor in the pediatrics department here at the University of Florida, and even earned the Excellence in Teaching in the Pediatric Medical Student Clerkship award.

For this week’s episode we are sharing our interview with Dr. John Petersen, a cardiologist and an Associate professor of medicine at the University of Florida.

Dr. Petersen’s specialty includes the care of patients with valvular heart disease and ventricular dysfunction. He has received multiple awards such as the Master Clinician Award from the Department of Medicine.

This week we will be kicking off the New Year with an interview with Dr. Sonal Tuli, an ophthalmologist and professor here at the University of Florida.

Dr. Tuli provides adult and family-based ophthalmic care, and her interests include infectious eye diseases, cataracts, corneal transplants and more!

In this video, she describes the various reasons for visiting an ophthalmologist, what the ordinary patient visit entails, and what specialties ophthalmologists interacts with most.

For this week’s episode in the EACN Health Education Series, we are excited to share our interview with Dr. Li-Ming Su, a urologist and professor here at the University of Florida.

Dr. Su has received numerous awards in his years of practicing, including being named to Newsweek’s Top Cancer Doctors in 2015 and Castle Connelly’s America’s Top Doctors from 2011-2019.

The application is due on September 25th.

For Applicants, please keep the following requirements in mind:
1. You must be a UF student with at least 3 semesters remaining.
2. You will be asked to provide an updated resume in the application.
3. You must be able to commit at least 10 hours/week or more (varies based on your projects) for this research leadership position.
4. This is separate from the clinical volunteer position at EACN.

You do NOT need to be an EACN volunteer to apply.
