Old Fashioned Spaghetti Recipe
Ingredients:
8 ounces spaghetti pasta
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese for garnish
Chopped fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Directions:
Cook the spaghetti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir in the dried basil, dried oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the sauce. Toss the pasta with the sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach the desired consistency.
Serve the Old Fashioned Spaghetti in bowls, garnished with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh basil or parsley if desired.
