CDS recognizes February as Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month 2026. This month is a reminder that healthy relationships are about much more than sweet messages or social media moments. They are built on trust, honesty, and consistent respect.

Whether you’re concerned about your relationship, or if you have questions about dating in general, the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline is here for you 24/7. Text “LOVEIS” to 22522 to speak to an advocate, or visit https://www.loveisrespect.org/

Healthy relationships for young adults can be confusing. Love is more than just the way you feel, and we're here to help.

✨Interface Youth Program-Central Book Club Spotlight ✨

Senior Youth Care Worker Kevin Lee had the brilliant idea to start a book club, creating a space where stories spark conversation and growth. In his own words:

“Right now in Book Club we are reading My Selma. It’s about a young girl growing up in Selma, Alabama during the Civil Rights Movement. She talks about her family, neighborhood, and what it was like to be a kid while big, important events were happening around her.

For Black History Month, we are going to have the youth learn about historical Black figures and explore their lives. We’ll focus on their contributions to history and to humanity and talk about why their work and actions are important. We are also using My Selma to guide discussions about identity, family & community, fear & courage, leadership, and hope for the future.

In past Book Club sessions using Holes, we explored themes like identity, trust, fairness, emotions, courage, growth, forgiveness, and hope. We did activities like story circles, role-plays, journaling, art, and group challenges to help the kids think about making good choices, being resilient, and building connections. The kids often shared their own experiences, which made the discussions meaningful.”

Thank you to Mr. Lee for your thoughtful leadership!
