TIME FOR A CONTROVERSIAL TRUTH!

You cannot “alkalize” your body.

I don’t care how much lemon water you drink.
I don’t care what your food chart says.
Your body is not sitting there adjusting its pH because you had spinach for lunch. Your body has a very tight reign on your pH levels.
Your blood pH stays between 7.35 - 7.45 for a reason.
Your lungs and kidneys regulate that constantly to keep you alive. If it actually shifted outside that range,
that’s not “wellness.” That’s a medical emergency.
If your pH was 6.4, you wouldn’t need a detox.
You’d need a hospital.

The whole “alkaline diet” idea came from the fact that food can change urine pH. Urine.
As in what your body is getting rid of. Waste.
Not your blood. Not your cells. Not your overall “internal environment.”

What’s actually happening is people are avoiding perfectly nutritious foods, stressing over charts, and buying expensive “alkaline” products thinking they’re changing their body chemistry.
They’re not.
Now here’s the part people don’t like to hear...
Most alkaline diets do make people feel better, but not because they changed their pH. They feel better because they finally started eating real food.
More vegetables.
Less processed junk.
Better nutrient intake.
That’s it.
Your body is not fragile. It’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.
You don’t need to alkalize it amd you need to stop overcomplicating it.
Eat real food.
Hydrate.
Sleep.
Let your physiology do its job.

CONTROVERSIAL TRUTH TIME

Some of the “weeds” we’re taught to kill actually have value.
And some of the things we’re told are safe to use on them demands a closer look.
We just talked about dandelion.
Most people spray it, pull it, or try to get rid of it.
Meanwhile, it contains compounds that have been studied for antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and even anti-cancer activity in early research.
Not a cure or replacement for necessary treatment.
But definitely not useless.

Now look at what’s often used to kill it.
Glyphosate-based herbicides (like Roundup) are one of the most widely used chemicals in the world. And the science around them isn’t exactly unanimous.
International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic” and the Environmental Protection Agency says it’s "not likely carcinogenic at typical exposure levels."

Translation? There’s disagreement. And that should make people pause.
Here’s the part no one likes to talk about. We’re quick to eliminate what we don’t understand and slow to question what we’ve been told is normal.
This isn’t about fear.
It’s about awareness.

Not every plant in your yard is a problem, not every chemical is harmless, and your health decisions deserve more thought than marketing.

You don’t need to panic or go extreme, but you should probably start asking better questions. Your health, well being, and life rely on it.

DANDELION

And no…you do not need a “liver detox”
Your liver already detoxes your body.
Constantly. For free. Without a tea, powders, juices, and whatever MLM BS your friend is trying to sell you.
If it didn’t, we’d all be in trouble.

Now, supporting your liver? That’s real.
And that’s where dandelion comes in.
Dandelion supports bile flow which helps digest fats and move waste out.
Aids digestion as a gentle bitter that gets things moving.
Mild diuretic that helps with fluid balance (without wrecking potassium).
Antioxidant support that helps protect cells from stress.
Nutrient-dense with vitamins A, C, K, potassium.

It does not “detox your liver”.
It doesn't flush toxins overnight. Nothing does.
It is not magic in a tea bag.

The reality is that you don’t need to detox your liver.
But you can support digestion, bile flow, and overall function. Dandelion is one simple way to do that.
Eat it. Drink it. Use it intentionally.

Not because the internet told you your liver is “full of toxins.”

BEETS

The vegetable that looks aggressive…and kind of is (in a good way). Beets don’t get much attention unless they’re staining something, but nutritionally, they’re doing a lot behind the scenes.
What beets actually do is impressive.
Nitric oxide support (circulation + blood flow), beets are rich in dietary nitrates, which the body converts to nitric oxide. This helps improve circulation, support blood pressure, enhance oxygen delivery, and heart health support.
Because of their effect on blood flow, beets may help support healthy blood pressure levels and improve vascular function.
Some studies show beetroot can improve endurance, exercise efficiency, and oxygen use during activity
(translation: your body works smarter, not harder).

Beets provide folate (B9), potassium, manganese, vitamin C, and fiber.

Beets contain betalains, which help reduce oxidative stress and support cellular health.
Liver support (not “detox”).
Beets contain compounds like betaine, which support liver function and methylation pathways.
Not a cleanse.
Just actual physiology.
Important reality check...beets are helpful. They are not magic.

FYI, If you eat enough of them and panic because something turns red/magenta later…
You’re fine. It’s called beeturia.

Eat them roasted.
Juiced.
Or however you can tolerate them.

SARDINES

Small fish, extremely aggressive nutritional profile.
Sardines don’t look impressive.
They’re not trendy.
They come in a tin.
And yet, nutritionally, they outperform a lot of “health foods.”

Omega-3 powerhouse rich in EPA and DHA, which support heart health, brain function, and inflammation balance.
One of the best natural sources of vitamin D and supports immune function, bone health, and hormone regulation (especially helpful if you’re indoors more than you’d like to admit).
Calcium without dairy because you eat the bones (yes, really), sardines provide highly absorbable calcium for bones, teeth, and muscle function.
High-quality protein supports muscle maintenance, metabolism, and satiety all without needing a grill, prep, or life planning.
They contain B12 for energy and nerve health.
Sardines are loaded with vitamin B12, which supports red blood cell production, nervous system function, and energy levels.
Low mercury, high benefit. Unlike larger fish, sardines are small, short-lived, and low on the food chain meaning they carry significantly less mercury.
Rich in minerals, including selenium (antioxidant support), iron (oxygen transport), and phosphorus (bone health).

They’re not glamorous or aesthetic. But they are one of the most nutrient-dense, accessible, and practical foods you can eat.
Eat them straight.
Put them on sourdough.
Add lemon, salt, and move on with your life.

MORINGA VS YOUR MULTIVITAMIN
The leafy green that came to the supplement world ready to compete. You’ve probably seen moringa called “The Miracle Tree.”

Is it actually magic? No.
Is it ridiculously nutrient-dense for a leaf? Yes.
Here’s what about 1 tablespoon of moringa leaf powder can contribute nutritionally.

Vitamin A Support
≈ 15–20% of daily needs
Supports vision, immune function, and skin health.

Vitamin C Support
≈ 10–15% of daily needs
Supports immune response, antioxidant protection, and collagen production.

Calcium Support
≈ 10–15% of daily needs
Important for bone health, muscle contraction, and nerve signaling.

Iron Support
≈ 10–20% of daily needs
Supports red blood cell production, oxygen transport, and energy levels.

Potassium Support
≈ 8–10% of daily needs
Helps regulate fluid balance, nerve function, and blood pressure.

One spoon of moringa isn’t a full multivitamin…but it does show up with a surprisingly strong resume.
People commonly use moringa as powder, tea, capsules, and mixed into soups or foods. They are even available in gummies. ❤️
Typical supplemental intake ranges from 1–3 grams daily, though research studies sometimes use larger amounts.

🍌🥰
The other day, I was grocery shopping and walked past 2 women talking and overheard just a small portion of the conversation. A woman seemed to almost be bullying one of her friends for purchasing bananas, telling her "they have way too much sugar and carbs and you'll get fat." I kept my lid on and hope that woman #2 bought her bananas anyways...so, on with this topic.

Bananas are a nutrient-packed superfood! Here's a quick rundown of their key health benefits and why the "they make you fat" myth is busted...

-They're rich in potassium for heart health & blood pressure control.
-High fiber (soluble + resistant starch) for digestion, gut health, & blood sugar stability.
-Vitamins B6 & C boost energy, immunity, & mood.

Emerging benefits from research show antioxidants & bioactive compounds (phenolics, carotenoids) offer anti-inflammatory, anticancer potential, & support kidney/mental health (Singh et al., 2016; Mondal et al., 2021).
Bananas don't make you fat! A medium one has approx 105 calories, low fat, and filling fiber that aids satiety & weight management, no evidence links them to gain when eaten in balance (part of a calorie-controlled diet). Studies show they may even help prevent weight gain over time.
Enjoy ripe for sweetness or green for extra resistant starch. Nature's perfect snack!

**Warning for People with Diabetes & Renal Failure**

Bananas are high in potassium. A medium banana contains about 420–450 mg. In chronic kidney disease (especially advanced stages) or renal failure, impaired kidneys struggle to remove excess potassium, raising the risk of hyperkalemia (high blood potassium). This risk is higher with diabetes due to diabetic kidney disease and potential medication effects. Hyperkalemia can cause serious issues like irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, or heart complications.
Avoid or strictly limit high-potassium foods (e.g., bananas, oranges, potatoes, avocados, dried fruits).
Follow your doctor's or dietitian's personalized potassium limit (often
