Hello Facebook Friends and Family! Continuum Healthcare Network has a charity case that we accepted. The patient had a stroke and needed supportive medical equipment. Does anyone of you know resources or someone who can provide us medical bed for this patient?

Please message us or inbox me. We appreciate any support. If you also have diapers for seniors and bed pads, let us know. We can pick them up, or you can deliver them to our clinic. We appreciate your support.

Celebrating Filipino American History Month 2024.

October is Filipino American History Month!
Historians Fred and Dorothy Cordova, founders of FAHNS, the Filipino American Historical Society, first proposed the idea of Filipino American History Month in 1992 to commemorate Filipino Americans' history, culture, and contributions to the United States. It is purposefully referred to as Filipino American History Month as opposed to Filipino American Heritage Month to resist the exclusion of Filipino American History from dominant narratives and the much-forgotten legacy of Filipino Americans. US Congress declared October as Filipino American History Month in 2009. In 2015, Former President Barrack Obama celebrated Filipino American History Month for the first time in the White House.

Did you also know that there are 4.4 million Filipinos living in the United States? (www.census.gov.) 1.6 million Filipinos live in California alone, and more than 321,000 Filipinos live in Los Angeles County. (pewresearch.org) California has the highest concentration of Filipinos, followed by Hawaii, Nevada, Texas, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Washington, and Virginia. (pewresearch.org) Filipino Americans have been making their mark in US history since 1587 when the first Filipinos landed in the Americas in what is now called Morro Bay.

This year's theme for Filipino American History Month is "Struggle, Resistance, Solidarity and Resilience." Filipino Americans have been breaking down barriers throughout US history. Check out some of the resources at the library that share more about the Filipino American Experience.
