Osu Citizens Social Club (U.S.A and Canada)

Osu Citizens Social Club (U.S.A and Canada) Our Mission Statement It’s the system, they agreed. That gathering was so successful that a popular request was made to make it an annual event.

Many years ago, a few citizens of Osu (living in the U.S.), during a conversation, wondered why they’ve lived in the same country (U.S.A) for years but rarely see each other. Except, perhaps, occasional phone calls and/or emails, “we are not able to find the time to meet with relatives and friends as much as we should” (that is if the meeting is made possible at all), they all lamented. The very s

ystem they’ve come to depend on to help them improve upon their socioeconomic lives is the same system that has imprisoned them and restricted their movements and way of life. These citizens then begun to discuss the idea of gathering as many friends and relatives as possible, fix a day during the summer, and meet to enjoy each other’s company while reflecting back on old memories. That thought became a reality when that Summer, a call was made to as many Osu citizens as could be reached for some form of a get together in Maryland. Thus, the Annual Osu Citizens Re-Union and Get together was born. Our mission is to bring together and unite all citizens of Osu living in the Diaspora, promote good relationships and discuss mutual matters affecting all of us in the Diaspora. Our goal is also to look at ways we can continue to help improve the image of our dear town of Osu by embarking on projects that that can benefit and enhance the lives of the community. Currently, our first project is to help rehabilitate the Osu Government Maternity Clinic. This Clinic, built many decades ago and which serves thousands of expectant mothers in the Osu Township, has seen its share of neglect and breakdown of essential resources and equipments. Our second project would be the Osu Children’s Library. This library has been in the Osu community for decades and at present, its condition is very disappointing. We intend to raise enough funds to help expand, renovate, and stock up the facility with up to date books, materials, and communication devices, such as computers and internet service.
