Jenny Lynn Moyer, MT-BC is a Music Therapist, a voice, guitar, and piano instructor, a United States Army Veteran, and a singer/songwriter forever dedicated to the transformative power of music. During her time in active duty service Jenny Lynn had wonderful experiences as a professional vocalist singing with the US Army Europe (USAREUR) Soldiers’ Chorus located in Heidelberg, Germany. Some of these experiences range from singing the National Anthem a capella for significant military drill & ceremony events to performing for Wounded Warriors and their families at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, and Walter Reed Medical Center, where soldiers recovered from battle injuries. After completing her contractual obligation to the US Army in Portland, Oregon, she began her undergraduate studies in Music Therapy at Marylhurst University with a focus in vocal performance. She then transferred east to Shenandoah University and completed her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Therapy graduating with honors. Jenny Lynn went on to complete her required 6-month internship at the Salem, Virginia Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Through her training, she has become a proficient musician with guitar, piano and many hand held percussive instruments. Music Therapy research has shown that patient preferred music is most effective in meeting patient needs, so Jenny Lynn accesses music from a variety of genres and cultures in her practice. Her clinical background includes music therapy work with adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, inpatient hospital care, addiction rehabilitation and recovery programs, mental health inpatient and outpatient programs, elder care facilities, palliative care, and within the Veteran communities.
“Music has the ability to express what words cannot” Jenny Lynn shares. “It is the milieu to deeper understanding, communication, and self-expression, especially for those who are experiencing life role transition."
