PSA - I see so many people trying to get healthy and posting pics of their smoothies!!! Great intentions! But, the nutritionist & educator in me has to let you guys know that lots of you are being counterproductive with your smoothie intake.
Once you add in a cup of yogurt, a cup of milk, a banana, and a cup of fruit, you have smoothie that is over 500 calories, and if you're drinking that with a meal, then you could be getting more than half of the calories you need in a whole day in one setting.
To make your smoothie less calorie-dense & overall healthier, leave out the milk and yogurt, replace it with a plant-based milk (like almond milk or rice milk), use berries instead of high sugar fruits (i.e. bananas), and if you want more of a frozen texture, use frozen fruit.
To get some extra vitamins, add a flavor-neutral green like spinach. You can also add a scoop or two of protein powder to add some protein and make it a meal replacement instead of a side.
Don't sabotage your efforts to be more healthy turn by adding unnecessary things to your otherwise healthy smoothie ❤️
