🩺Meet your nurse-Noelle Edwards, 18 years of nursing experience.

Noelle began her journey at Twin County as a weekend unit secretary in the Emergency Department at just 19 years old while attending college. It was during those early days that she discovered a passion for the fast-paced, high-acuity environment of emergency medicine. That experience led her to change her major, and she proudly became a registered nurse at the age of 22. With the support of the ER team who had watched her grow, she transitioned directly into the RN role and soon after earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

After several years at Twin County, she expanded her experience by working at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in the Adult Trauma Emergency Department, where she spent six years. Although the time there was invaluable, her heart led her back home after having her third child. She credits Twin County—and the nurses who mentored her early on—for shaping her into the nurse she is today.

Over the years, Noelle has obtained specialized training in adult and adolescent Sexual Assault Nurse Examination (SANE), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and advanced stroke care. For the past six years, she has once again called Twin County home, working alongside a team she deeply admires.

To Noelle, her coworkers aren’t just colleagues—they’re like family. The support, teamwork, and shared commitment to patient care have created a bond she treasures. She feels the community is truly fortunate to have such a dedicated hospital.

Twin County holds a special place in her heart—not only professionally, but personally. She and her family have received exceptional care here over the years, and she delivered all three of her children at the hospital.

Outside of work, Noelle enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, who keep life busy and full through sports, gymnastics, horseback riding, and school activities. Her family is also active members of First Baptist Church of Galax. ✨

🩺✨ Coming Together for a Healthier Community! ✨🩺

Today, Twin County Regional Healthcare, in partnership with Strata, had the incredible opportunity to meet with community members to dive into our Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA).

What is the CHNA? 🤔
The CHNA is a vital process that helps us identify and prioritize the health needs of the people we serve. It’s about listening, learning, and collaborating—using real data and real voices to guide the future of local healthcare.

During today’s discussion, we tackled important topics like:
💗 Women’s Health
🧠 Mental Health
🫀 Cardiac Care
🩹 Stroke Awareness
💊 Substance Use and Recovery Resources
🧬 And so much more

We also talked through the challenges and gaps in access, and how we can work together—as healthcare providers, community leaders, and neighbors—to improve communication and connect people to the care they need most.

This is only the beginning. Together, we are committed to building a stronger, healthier future for all of Galax City, Carroll, and Grayson County. Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared, and supported this mission! 💬❤️

Working as a Nurse Intern at Twin County Regional Hospital has been an incredibly positive experience. From the very beginning, I was welcomed by friendly and supportive staff in every department I visited. No matter where I was—whether it was Med-Surg, ICU, or anywhere in between—everyone treated me with kindness and made me feel like part of the team. One of the highlights of my time here was working in the Emergency Department. The fast pace and hands-on learning opportunities pushed me to stay focused, ask questions, and really grow in confidence. Being in that environment reminded me why I chose nursing and gave me even more motivation to keep pushing forward in my journey.

This internship has been an incredibly beneficial experience, especially as I prepare to enter my final year of nursing school at Wytheville Community College. The hands-on exposure and mentorship I receive has strengthened both my technical abilities and my dedication to the nursing profession. I would especially like to recognize Arielle Wilder, who has been a guiding light throughout this journey. Her support, encouragement, and consistent presence have made a lasting impact on my growth as a student nurse. Arielle’s commitment to helping interns succeed speaks volumes about the quality of leadership at Twin County Regional, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have learned and grown in such a positive, inspiring environment.
