Patient experience is a crucial element in the delivery of high-quality healthcare. It encompasses the interactions and experiences that patients have with healthcare providers, from the first point of contact. The importance of patient experience extends beyond just patient satisfaction- it’s integral to improving health outcomes, fostering trust, and ensuring the overall success of healthcare systems.
In honoring patient experience week, the Women’s Center would like to share a patient’s experience.
“When I hear Twin County OB or think of my four deliveries, and plenty of overnight stays with them, I have nothing but amazing things to say, stories to tell, and memories to replay. Dr Blattner himself is truly heaven sent and the nurses of TCRH are angels and hero’s."
My name is Haley and when I was 16 I had a placental abruption. Thanks to Dr Blattner and the nursing staff, they saved my life and I delivered a health 4lb baby girl who is now 8 years old. Along with my 8 year old, I have 3 more children, and two angel babies. Each of them came with traumatic birth experiences and chaos. I could not have asked for a better group of nurses to hold my hand and wipe my tears through it all. They have loved us all like family and have stayed in touch and kept up with our lives. At 16 years old they did not judge me but instead held me as I was terrified, vulnerable and bleeding out. They encouraged me, letting me know how amazing mommy life would be. They gave me every tip & trick in the book and they were the ones that ensured me everything was fine at every growth scan, fetal heart monitoring test, or every blood pressure spike. They acted fast when my daughter's heartbeat faded and when my son's birth was seconds away from me hemorrhaging. They were the only ones I had during my daughter’s birth during Covid. They did everything to make our stay so special. My last, and scariest visit, they saved my life yet again. I had a placental abruption and was passing blood clots on top of having every post-partum issue you can think of; blood transfusions, preeclamptic etc. I’m not sure I would be here without Dr. Blattner and the fast-acting & smart choices the nurses made that morning. During my recovery from this delivery the nursing staff took the best care of not only me but my baby; feeding, changing, pictures, you name it- they did it! In my 40 plus visits and hundreds of questions asked- they never judged or let me down. They loved me, hurt with me, cried with me, and smiled with me. They were nothing less than phenomenal and each one of them will hold a special place in my heart forever. Thank you TCRH OB unit for the most wonderful care. So much love and lifelong memories that you’ve given myself and my family. -- Haley T.
