The Loves Park Police Department is proud to announce the launch of the Blue Envelope Program! 💙

This is a voluntary, community-based initiative designed to assist individuals with autism, dementia, or other developmental disabilities during interactions with law enforcement.

The blue envelope serves as a simple but powerful communication tool. When presented during a traffic stop or other interaction, it signals to officers that the individual may benefit from additional patience, clear communication, or specific accommodations, such as sensitivity to lights and sirens. It also provides a helpful, non-verbal way to communicate that someone may experience anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or difficulty with verbal interaction.

The envelope can also store important documents. What should be placed inside the envelope?

🔹 Insurance Card
🔹 Emergency Contact
🔹 Medical Information
