Why am I still breaking out??? 😱

If you’re asking this, you’re not alone - and it’s not always about having “bad skin”. Acne is complex and your triggers might be hiding in plain sight.

Let’s talk about a few of the most common ones👇🏼

💥Hormonal Changes or Fluctuations
• puberty, menstrual cycle, pregnancy and PCOS can cause an increase in oil production

💥Diet
• dairy, especially skim milk can affect hormones in some people which can lead to acne breakouts
• high-glycemic foods such as white bread, white rice, pasta, and soda can cause inflammation which can lead to breakouts

💥Bacteria
• bacteria can build up on the skin if not cleaned properly, leftover residue = clogged pores

💥Stress
• stress triggers the release of cortisol which can increase inflammation and oil production
• stress can also lead to poor sleep or diet choices that affect the skin

💥Improper Skincare
• choosing the right skincare products in important, watch for comedogenic (pore-clogging) ingredients such as heavy oils or silicone-based products
•not cleansing after workouts or sweating allows bacteria to settle into the skin
• over cleansing the skin or using harsh exfoliation can strip the skin barrier causing more oil production and irritation

• humidity & heat can increase oil production while the cold, dry weather can strip your skin of moisture causing it to produce more oil

❤️Two years ago, Debra and I opened Ikaria Infusions & Aesthetics. Since then, we have gained a lot of new friends and new followers so we wanted to reintroduce ourselves!

❤️After about 35 years of nursing between the two of us - most of them spent in a fast-paced hospital setting - we saw firsthand how often we treat illness instead of preventing it. We love caring for others, but wanted to do more than react to disease. We wanted to help people feel vibrant, confident, and healthy BEFORE they ever set foot in a hospital.

❤️That desire led us to start this med spa - a space where science meets self-care, and where prevention is as beautiful as it is powerful!

❤️Starting this business wasn’t easy. For two years, we worked long hours, went without pay, poured everything we had into research, training, and building something meaningful. We wouldn’t trade it for anything! What we found through this journey was more than a business - we found a community! We’ve made deep friendships and lasting connections with people who share our belief that true health comes from caring for ourselves inside and out.
