🚒🚑 Back to School Bash Fun! 🍎🎒

We had an amazing time at the Back to School Bash at McDonald’s on West Main! Kids (and parents!) got to climb inside the ambulance during our Touch-a-Truck event with Hendersonville Fire Department.

And guess who else stopped by? Grimace himself showed up to bring smiles, high-fives, and a little purple magic to the day! 💜

Thank you to McDonald’s for hosting such a fun community event and to all the families who came out to celebrate the start of a new school year with us. 📚✨

On July 26th, the Safe Haven Baby Box was used in Hendersonville, giving a newborn a safe and loving start to life.

We’re incredibly proud of the swift, compassionate response by our EMS crews, Sumner County ECC, and Hendersonville Fire. Their teamwork ensured this baby received immediate care.

We also want to acknowledge the strength and bravery of the mother who made this difficult decision. Because of her, and the resources in place, this child is safe.

🚸 Back to School Means Sharing the Road! 🚸

Sumner County students are heading back to class tomorrow, and that means more school buses on the roads and children waiting at bus stops. Let’s all do our part to keep them safe!

🛑 When you see a school bus with flashing red lights and an extended stop sign—STOP. It’s not just the law—it’s a lifesaving pause.

👀 Watch for children crossing streets or walking near the road, especially early in the morning when visibility might be low.

💡 Tips for Drivers:
• Never pass a stopped school bus from either direction if you’re on an undivided road.
• Be extra cautious near neighborhoods and school zones.
• Put your phone down and stay alert!

💬 Parents, talk with your children about bus stop safety—look both ways, stay visible, and always wait for the bus to stop completely before approaching.

Together, we can help make this school year safe and successful for everyone in Sumner County! 💛🚌📚

On the morning of March 2nd, 32-year-old Kandace Goodrich experienced a sudden and life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia known as ventricular fibrillation, which sent her into cardiac arrest. Her family immediately called 911, activating the emergency response team with the assistance of Sumner County ECC. Within moments, Gallatin Fire Department and Sumner County EMS Paramedic Rachael Kennedy and AEMT Lauren Walker arrived on the scene and initiated Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) protocols.

Ms. Goodrich remained in cardiac arrest for approximately 12 minutes. During that time, her heart required multiple defibrillation shocks along with cardiac medications to regain a viable rhythm. Thanks to the rapid, coordinated efforts of first responders and medical professionals, her heart was successfully restarted.

During the recent “Heart Start Meet and Greet” event, Ms. Goodrich shared her story and expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in saving her life. Her words served as a powerful reminder of the importance of timely emergency care and the dedication of those who deliver it.

On April 28 of this year, Mr. Johns arrived at work like he had every other day, ready to carry out his duties as a janitor at Gallatin High School. But that day took a sudden and life-altering turn.

Shortly after arriving, Mr. Johns became unresponsive. Witnesses rushed to his side, and the school resource officer, along with bystanders, acted quickly and decisively. They retrieved an AED and administered a life-saving shock while waiting for emergency responders.

Within minutes, members of the Gallatin Fire Department arrived on scene. Sumner County EMS Paramedic Rachael Kennedy and AEMT Jack Dionne immediately initiated advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) protocols, working swiftly and skillfully to stabilize Mr. Johns.

Their collective efforts exemplify courage, preparedness, and community. That day, a crisis became a moment of heroism—and Mr. Johns was given a second chance thanks to the quick actions of those around him.
