🧠 Dementia & Alzheimer’s Education Series
Topic: Early Signs Families Often Miss

When people think of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, memory loss is usually the first thing that comes to mind. But the truth is—some of the earliest signs are often much more subtle.

Here are a few early changes families may overlook:

šŸ”¹ Difficulty following conversations or losing track of thoughts
šŸ”¹ Changes in mood or personality (withdrawn, anxious, or easily upset)
šŸ”¹ Trouble with familiar tasks (cooking, managing bills, using appliances)
šŸ”¹ Misplacing items in unusual places
šŸ”¹ Poor judgment or decision-making
šŸ”¹ Losing interest in hobbies or social activities

These changes can happen slowly, and it’s easy to brush them off as ā€œjust getting older.ā€ But recognizing these signs early can make a big difference in getting the right support and care.

šŸ’™ At our facility, we’re committed to educating, supporting, and caring for those living with dementia and their families.

If you’ve noticed these changes in a loved one, you’re not alone—and help is available.

What Is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy (OT) is a branch of health care that helps people of all ages who have physical, sensory, or cognitive problems. OT can help them regain independence in all areas of their lives.

Occupational therapists help with barriers that affect a person's emotional, social, and physical needs. To do this, they use everyday activities, exercises, and other therapies.

Game Time + Great Company = A Perfect Day!

Our residents had an absolute blast playing a lively game of Pitch today! What made it even more special was having a friend from the community join in on the fun.

There was plenty of laughter, friendly competition, and lots of good-natured razzing going around the table! šŸ˜„

Moments like these remind us how important connection, laughter, and a little friendly competition are for the heart and soul. šŸ’™

We love bringing our community and residents together—because the best memories are made when we share them!

What is the difference between Alzheimer’s and Dementia? -Our Weekly Education Series 🧠

This is one of the most common questions we hear—and it’s an important one šŸ’œ

Dementia is not a specific disease. It’s a general term used to describe a decline in memory, thinking, and reasoning skills that interferes with daily life.

Alzheimer’s disease, on the other hand, is the most common type of dementia. It accounts for 60–80% of cases and is a progressive disease that affects memory, behavior, and the ability to carry out everyday tasks.

šŸ‘‰ In simple terms:
Dementia = the umbrella term
Alzheimer’s = one specific type under that umbrella

At our facility, we understand that every journey with dementia or Alzheimer’s is unique. That’s why we focus on compassionate care, meaningful activities, and meeting each resident where they are—whether through small groups, one-on-one time, or engaging moments of connection.

šŸ’œ Follow along each week as we share more information, tips, and ways to better understand and support those living with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
