Anxiety in children doesn’t always look like worry, sometimes it looks like meltdowns, anger, stomachaches, avoiding school, or “acting out.”

Underneath the behavior is often a child who feels overwhelmed, unsure, or scared but doesn’t yet have the words to explain it.

As parents, it can be confusing and even exhausting. You may wonder, “Why are they acting this way?” But often the better question is, “What are they feeling?”

Anxiety can show up as:
• Trouble sleeping or frequent nightmares
• Big reactions to small situations
• Avoidance of activities they once enjoyed
• Physical complaints like headaches or tummy aches
• Clinginess or difficulty separating

Your child isn’t giving you a hard time, they’re having a hard time.
