Some businesses start with a business plan.
Galveston Burial at Sea started with my grandparents.
My grandfather, R.M. “Andy” Anderson, was a WWII United States Navy veteran. The sea was part of who he was. My grandmother, Betty R. “Memaw” Anderson, loved Galveston just as deeply—the water, the breeze, the feeling that life made more sense near the Gulf.
When it came time to honor them, scattering their ashes in Galveston felt right. Not symbolic. Not trendy. Right.
They loved it here. And now they’re here forever.
That experience stayed with me. It’s the reason we offer Burial at Sea the way we do—quiet, respectful, affordable, and personal. No rush. No pressure. No upselling grief. Just families given space to remember, reflect, and say goodbye in a way that actually feels meaningful.
Over the years, I’ve helped friends, families, and even people I barely knew through this same moment. Every time, I’m reminded that this isn’t about a service—it’s about giving someone peace when they need it most.
If you or someone you know is facing that decision, I’m always happy to answer questions or just talk it through. This one is personal to me. It always will be.
