Regarding the evolving situation in Mexico, cruise operations at the Port of Galveston have not been impacted at this time. Cruise lines continuously monitor developments and will advise their passengers of any changes to cruise itineraries.

The Galveston Wharves will hold an open house 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Cruise Terminal 16, 1602 Harborside Drive, to share highlights, answer questions, and get public input on its new 20-Year Strategic Master. Port staff will be available to discuss how the plan will guide , and growth and infrastructure improvements. HARBORSIDE LANE CLOSURE UPDATE: TxDOT roadwork will now begin the week of March 2.

The Texas Department of Transportation has notified the City of Galveston they will be doing asphalt work on SH 275 (Harborside) between 51st and slightly west of 77th, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 17 through Thursday, Feb 19. The schedule is as follows:

• Tuesday, Feb. 17: 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., eastbound/westbound (excluding outside lanes)
• Wednesday, Feb. 18: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., eastbound /westbound (excluding outside lanes.)
• Thursday, Feb. 19: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., eastbound/westbound lanes (excluding outside lanes.)

On Feb. 20 TxDOT will spray the milled areas during the day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. eastbound/westbound (excluding outside lanes.)

There will be alternate lane closures set up throughout these operations, so please follow all directional signs. Drivers should anticipate delays in the area.

NOON SUNDAY, JAN. 25, 2026 – Precipitation will continue to taper off today; however, water will likely remain on roadways. Freezing temperatures will arrive on the island at around 10 p.m. tonight and remain below 32 degrees for about 13 hours. Temperatures will begin to warm above freezing around 10 am Monday. We can expect freezing temperatures to return overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

PORT OPERATIONS – At this time, there are no plans to close the port. Port staff and port police will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional updates as needed. Cruise lines will provide updates to passengers regarding any schedule changes.

VESSEL OPERATIONS – Vessel traffic is normal.
