Purple Heart Day in 2025 will be on August 7th, which is a Thursday. It is a day to honor and remember the brave men and women who have been wounded or killed in action while serving in the U.S. military. The day commemorates the creation of the Badge of Military Merit by George Washington in 1782, which is the precursor to the Purple Heart medal.
