Luis, a 14-year-old patient from Shriners Hospital, has been staying with us alongside his father, David. They’re from Bolivia, a beautiful country in South America, and have been part of our house family since late January. After six months with us, they’re finally heading home!

To celebrate this special farewell, the Martinez family, with the generous help of Paula Friesner—one of our wonderful board members and Vice President of House Operations—hosted a heartfelt dinner on their last evening with us.

Carlos, a 17-year-old guest and fellow Shriners patient, brought out his accordion, and we all joined in singing and celebrating Luis’s departure. The night was filled with music, laughter, and joy as we came together to send them off with love.

A heartfelt thank you to the Martinez family and Paula Friesner for bringing such warmth and happiness to our families.

Goodbye, Luis! We’ve truly enjoyed having you here and will miss you dearly. We wish you and your family all the best as you return home!

It’s a blast. It’s rides. It’s arcade games. It’s prizes. It’s food. It’s drinks. It’s the joy on children’s faces (children of ALL ages). It’s the memories of families celebrating together. It’s a chance to wear Halloween costumes (only if you want). It’s a great way of giving back while having a great time. It’s all included. It’s our major fundraiser of the year, the Family Fun Event at the Galveston Historic Pleasure Pier. We’re now accepting sponsorships. Thank you to the lovely student nurses from Tiny Toes UTMB for stopping by and hosting an ice cream social!
The families had a great time enjoying sweet treats, and you better believe all the kids came back for seconds! Thank you for sharing your time, joy, and love with the house — we appreciate you!

A heartfelt thank you to the McDonald’s McKinney group for bringing dinner to our families! They treated us to a delicious spread of Mexican food and desserts for everyone to enjoy. We are so grateful for the food—and the love—you shared with us!

These wonderful young ladies are nurses from UTMB and members of Tiny Toes, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students interested in neonatal and pediatric care through volunteer work and educational opportunities.

They recently visited to host a fun and heartwarming ice cream gathering, which the kids absolutely loved! We’re so grateful for their time, kindness, and the joy they brought to our families.

We celebrated Estefania’s 13th birthday at the house! A generous volunteer donated a beautiful cake to help make the day extra special.
This marks Estefania’s 10th visit with us. She’s accompanied by her older sister Fernanda, who is not only her caregiver but also her biggest supporter.
Families gathered to sing Happy Birthday and enjoy some delicious cake together — it was a sweet and joyful moment for everyone!

Many thanks to McDonald's and their customers who "round up" their checks. The proceeds from our local McDonald's owners operators come to us. So, when eating at McDonald's please consider rounding up the pennies. It means so much to the children and families staying at our House.

We’re excited! A whole house generator is being installed at our House. Electric outages, hurricanes, freezes, blown transformers? We’ll be prepared. Thanks to all the entities responsible for this effort to keep our families safe and comfortable.
