Congratulations to Millie Hoffis, AAS, RN for receiving a DAISY Award! Here’s what her nominator had to say:

“My brother was a patient on Unit A3 at Saratoga Hospital. During those final weeks of his life, he received compassionate, outstanding care from many nurses and physicians, but one nurse, Millie, stood out in a way we will never forget. I’ve worked in healthcare leadership for more than 30 years, and I’ve witnessed countless examples of excellent care. But I have never observed the level of heartfelt compassion, personal attention, and consistent kindness that Millie provided to my brother and our entire family. From the moment she stepped into his room, Millie treated him as though he were a beloved member of her own family. She took her time with him, always making sure he was comfortable, that his pain was controlled, and that he felt heard and respected.



One moment that especially moved us happened around St. Patrick’s Day. My brother, who had little appetite by that point, suddenly craved two very specific things: Lucky Charms cereal and blue, zero-sugar Gatorade. Millie somehow remembered his comment. The next day, she surprised him by bringing both items, bought with her own money and delivered on her own time. That small act of kindness lit up an otherwise heavy day and reminded us how deeply she cared. There are so many other gestures that made Millie feel like the angel my brother needed in his final days. Her compassion was not a single moment; it was a constant presence, and it made all the difference to our family during a heartbreaking time. Millie embodies everything the DAISY Award is meant to recognize. She not only delivered outstanding clinical care, but also brought humanity, love, and grace into our lives when we needed it most. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this honor.”

Please join us in welcoming Taylor Bucher, Crisis Evaluator. Taylor joined us from the Albany Stratton VA, where she worked for two years before coming to Saratoga Hospital. She was drawn here by the opportunity to make meaningful changes for patients in a supportive, community-based environment.

Taylor is passionate about crisis work, su***de prevention, and helping patients access the right resources for long-term success. She’s also working toward her LCSW clinical license while gaining valuable hours in the field. Since joining the team, Taylor says she feels respected for her clinical knowledge and has found Saratoga Hospital to be a very kind and welcoming place.

My husband was recently admitted to the hospital and it was an incredibly frightening time for us. Throughout this experience, Chris stood out as a source of strength, reassurance, and genuine care. He kept us consistently informed and patiently answered every question. His ability to explain complex information in a way that made us feel informed and empowered was invaluable.
What truly set Chris apart was his calm and empathetic demeanor. He treated my husband not just as a patient, but as a person, showing true concern for his comfort and well-being. Even while managing the needs of multiple patients, Chris never appeared rushed or distracted. He juggled everything with incredible grace and professionalism, and we always felt like we were in good hands.

It's National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of Saratoga Hospital's Regional Therapy Center (RTC). For three decades, the RTC has delivered quality rehabilitation services to the community across the greater Saratoga region that includes physical, occupational, speech therapy and cardiac and pulmonary rehab services as well as our continued hospital inpatient rehab team (physical, occupational and speech therapists), aiming to exceed patient expectations. We express gratitude to patients, families, and staff for their trust and dedication. This anniversary reflects our past and promises continued innovation and expanded services to support community well-being in the next 30 years.
