My name is Marc. I am 66 years old, married and work for NASA as a spacecraft technician. I have for the most part always been overweight. (I love food). But my clothing sizes kept creeping slowly up. My knees and feet were hurting, and I felt tired all the time. During a routine exam, they found fatty liver deposits that were causing damage to my liver. I was told I had to lose weight, or would possibly need a liver transplant… OMG!!! So, I tried on my own to walk more and eat better. But as much as I tried, I was unable to lose any weight. I was convinced that I was just too old to lose weight.
Then my gastroenterologist (Dr. Raja Taunk) told me I needed to make an appointment with Dr. Anderson at Annapolis Medical Weight Loss. I had no idea how this works but was desperate enough to make the call. I went in for my first visit, and right away I felt the compassionate environment and very friendly staff. I had a Body Composition Analysis done, and the news was as bad as I feared. I am 5’10”, and weighed 265 pounds that day- with a Body Mass Index of 38. Dr. Anderson told me that a lot of my weight was visceral fat, and that this was actually one of the worst types of fat. But he was confident that he could help me. So I started working with Dr. Anderson and his awesome staff.
In the first few days I started the diet and was losing weight, along with walking a little more, and lifting a little more. I reprogrammed my eating habits and stopped grazing every time I walked through the kitchen. I started actually preparing meals instead of just opening boxes. It became fun to work with my body to help heal it. I was initially a bit worried about possible side effects from one of the new injectable medications, but did want to see if something like Semaglutide could help me. So far, I have little to no side effects, other than losing weight. I have gone from 265 lbs to 233 lbs, and my BMI has gone from 38 to 33, as well as visceral fat from 28 down to 21… all this in 2 months!!
I feel highly motivated to continue. I don’t carry any fear that I’m not doing it right, or will be able to maintain. I feel cared for, and cared about. Dr. Anderson and his staff have helped change my life, and I wanted to take a moment to make sure they understand how important they are to me. Thank you for the respect, compassion, smiles, and security. You guys are great! And thanks to your team, I just bought a pair of 38 pants (from a 42)!!
