As a rule of thumb, it is recommended to not have a massage when you have a cold or other illness, particularly if it is contagious. Not only do you risk passing on the illness to the therapist, but it's also unlikely to make you feel better. In fact, massage can make you feel worse during a cold. We are happy to reschedule as needed.

This is amazing work that supports the whole body. Every baby benefits!💞

The interesting factor of the infant work is that areas of tightness in the body often match the presenting conditions. It may be possible to examine a baby and explain to mom a general picture of her infant without hearing the history.

A five-month-old presented with many issues. I have broken down each one with the co-responding strain from my examination and later as it released in therapy.

1. The chief complaint was gassiness, so much so that mom consulted a pediatric gastroenterologist. The doctor prescribed a low-dose antibiotic to calm and balance the digestive system.

My exam showed fascial strain in the digestive organs (stomach, pancreas, liver, and gall bladder). This is commonplace with infants exhibiting gas and digestive problems.

2. Mom felt the left side of his body was tight from his pelvis into his head. A strain pattern from his left hip to his left shoulder extended into his left TMJ (jaw) and face.

3. Mom said he went seven days without a bowel movement. A fascial restriction in the left-sided descending colon could have been the culprit.

4. Mom reported irregular feeding with tongue clicking where he would just stop nursing. This is probably the result of his left TMJ strain which ran into his cheek and mouth.

5. His final problem was poor sleeping. I have discovered that infants with a zero-second brain cycle can be poor sleepers. If the brain is breathing well, the nervous system can respond in a more relaxed and calming manner.

For Gillespie Approach Infant providers please keep this concept in mind as you connect the dots with the presenting conditions and your clinical findings.

The Gillespie Approach is a massage modality that helps the body release its tight connective or fascial tissue from its physical and emotional traumas. We have a special interest working with newborns, whose untreated fascial strains from birth trauma can result in a lifetime of suffering.

Think of your tongue as the driver for your airway, your face, and your whole body!

Think of your tongue as the driver for your airway, your face, and your whole body!

Your tongue acts as a rudder and support system through a fascial line that runs right down to your toes!

In nearly all my patients, I see poor tongue posture, and the links to bad spinal posture, breathing, and other issues are felt right throughout the body.

The simplest way we can see how the tongue is so influential is how it supports proper head posture. When the tongue is down and forward, forward head posture and mouth breathing occurs.

Over time this associates with a narrow jaw, crooked teeth, and sleep disorders.

But… you guessed it, as always the mouth is a gateway for so many other systems in the body.

The tongue is an extremely complex muscular and fascial rudder system. This dissection via shows the deep front lines fascial connection.

It guides all the structures of the myofascial continuity that runs from the inner arch of the foot all the way up through the middle of the body to the tongue and jaw muscles.

Isn’t that amazing?

Actually the tongue is potentially more important for core stability than turning on your actual core.

Our core begins deep under the arch with the insertions of the tendons from the lower leg, especially tibialis posterior.

To find its insertion, feel just under the inside arch of the foot, just underneath and forward of protrusion of the navicular bone you can feel a bit over an inch in front of your tibial malleolus on the inside of your ankle.

This point will respond to a soft-but-energy-rich touch that is held, and also to a more firm and direct fascial release. Pressing here can make a flow of feeling run up the fascial line.
So for better core support, spinal, hip and leg strength, you need to work on your tongue posture.

During exercise practice sealing the tongue to the roof of the mouth, this turns on the fascial rudder to the toes. It takes time and you need to work on making the BACK of the tongue connect to the soft palate. More on this to come.

Have you noticed jaw or hip issues?

Hey Mom's! Having an adjustment to ??!? 💻 Here is a

The natural oils in an 🍊Orange peel have been shown helpful for mental focus and clarity! And the oils found in the root of a Vetiver plant help also!

Two things that help us with homework time is to let the kids peel an orange. It is a calming activity and the natural oils get all smelly in the air! Plus that boost of VitC!

Add one drop of Vetiver Essential Oil and one drop of an Orange Essential Oil (orange, mandarin, tangerine) onto a cotton ball, a makeup round, a kleenex tissue and set it on the homework table. We put ours in a jar that can be tightly lidded for later use.

No need to run a diffuser, but you can if you like.

Orange essential oil is high in a phytochemical called limonene. Limonene has been clinically shown to bring mental clarity, boost immunity, and calm the central nervous system (aka get rid of the )

Do you have a plant based study aide!? Comment below with your . (No need to mention brands, just the plants)
