The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is advancing a game called PainWaive into clinical trials, designed to help people with nerve pain from spinal cord injuries manage symptoms at home. PainWaive uses EEG neurofeedback via a headset and game app, helping users regulate brain activity linked to pain. Developed by Professor Sylvia Gustin and Dr. Negin Hesam-Shariati, the system enables users to control neuropathic pain through real-time brainwave feedback and mindful strategies, aiming for long-term relief. The trials will assess effectiveness over multiple sessions in a randomized setting.
