Reclaim Idaho is a grassroots movement committed to making our government work for all Idahoans and not just those with the most money and political influence. We wage campaigns that focus not on political candidates or political parties but on issues that bring Idahoans together—issues like affordable healthcare, protected public lands, and strong public schools.

We knew this would happen, but Idaho legislators didn’t listen. Our state cannot afford private school vouchers.

We knew this would happen, but Idaho legislators didn’t listen. Our state cannot afford private school vouchers.

The latest budget documents released by the state show Idaho is projected to end the current fiscal year in June with an unconstitutional state budget deficit of $56.6 million dollars.

We’ve learned that Idaho is now facing an unconstitutional budget deficit of $56 million.

Governor Little should call a special session immediately to repeal Idaho’s $50 million private-school voucher law.

Exactly.

“Allowing tax dollars to subsidize private school tuition for Idaho students isn’t supported by a majority of voters in the state…Boise State University’s annual public policy survey found 53.3% of respondents opposed the idea compared to 38% who supported it.”

A group of public education advocates is suing to block a new Idaho law that would use $50 million of taxpayer money for residents’ private school tuition.

**BIG NEWS**

In Idaho, we have a constitutional duty to provide a quality public education to every Idaho child. Our state constitution is clear:

“The stability of a republican form of government depending mainly upon the intelligence of the people, it shall be the duty of the legislature of Idaho, to establish and maintain a general, uniform and thorough system of public, free common schools.”

Idaho’s new private school voucher program is unconstitutional. It drains funds from public schools and sets up a taxpayer-funded private system that is not accessible to all students.

That’s why Reclaim Idaho is supporting a lawsuit to strike down Idaho’s voucher program.

The lawsuit was filed today, and petitioners include Committee to Protect and Preserve the Idaho Constitution, the Moscow School District, Mormon Women for Ethical Government, Idaho Education Association, and several individuals negatively impacted by the voucher program.

Meanwhile, as the lawsuit works its way through the legal process, we will continue traveling the state and building a movement to protect our public schools.

Next week, the Save Our Schools town hall tour will host events in McCall, Lewiston, Moscow, and Grangeville, and volunteers will be circulating the Not A Dollar More petition at the Nez Perce County Fair.

Together, we will stop the voucher agenda in its tracks. Thank you to all who've joined this movement to protect public education!

“Our children deserve highly qualified teachers.”

That’s why these two career educators in Rexburg added their names to the Not A Dollar More petition—our petition demanding that Idaho legislators vote NO on any bill that expands private-school vouchers in Idaho.

Great coverage of Wednesday’s Save Our Schools town hall in Soda Springs:

“Community members expressed concerns at the town hall about potential fund abuse regarding the money now available to families via House Bill 93 and pointed out that in rural Idaho, public schools are often the only option for in-person classes and are already desperately short of funding.”

SODA SPRINGS — Idaho lawmakers' passage of House Bill 93 earlier this year sparked the "Save Our Schools" campaign, an effort to protect and support public school districts where funding
