Whenever I read an article about a new trend diet, hot new supplement, or food that has been officially deemed “poison” by wellness influencers I always think: “man, we have really lost the plot” 😂
Postpartum nutrition is extremely important and impactful to our long term health as women, so we also can’t chalk it up to “no big deal”. But I do think there’s a nice balance where we can simultaneously support our postpartum nutrition goals while not over stressing about it.
Giving you some really big picture goals to focus on here because I think we often get lost in a sea of nuanced recommendations, things we “NEED” to buy, or diets we must subscribe to to be at peak health.
Real life nutrition advice really isn’t all that glamorous, and it doesn’t come with a fast fix or a simple pill.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the thought of it, let me break it down for you in a really easy to digest way (pun intended). Honestly, it’s really boring. And you don’t have to be made of money to achieve it. It’s all about:
- eating a well balanced diet with a variety of fruit, vegetables, and protein sources 🥑🥝 If you’re eating a well rounded diet made up of mostly Whole Foods- you’re probably eating some great options to help regulate, restore, repair, and replenish
- allowing yourself to fully recover, and then moving in a way that feels intentional and good for your body 🧘♀️
- practice good sleep hygiene and get good rest whenever possible with a new baby 😴
- find things that bring you comfort, joy, and reduce your cortisol levels and lean in to them 🎶
- supplement if and when necessary. Not blindly because someone on the internet told you to, but to support your diet and where you think YOU could use the most support 💊
Using a little bit of intention while making your plate goes a long way! The goal isn’t perfection because perfection doesn’t exist 🤍
