I’ll be out of the office from **June 22nd through July 4th** and fully unplugging during that time — I won’t be able to respond to texts, emails, or calls until I’m back.

**Appointments can still be made online while I’m away**, and I’ll follow up on any messages after July 5th.

This time away is a much-needed reset — a reminder of how important it is to step back, rest, and recharge. I encourage you to do the same whenever you can. 💆‍♀️🌿

April is National Stress Awareness Month, and I think, the perfect time to recognize the importance of talking about how we normalize stress. Have you ever noticed sometimes being busy feels like a badge of honor? Ever been enjoying some much needed free time, only to have someone say, “must be nice!”

We often don’t prioritize rest, joy and play in our lives so I wanted to share a few ways we can do just that and make our spring to-do list a little more of a ta-da list!

But before we dive into those, I want to briefly tell you about Cortisol because it’s such an important thing to understand about your Body when it comes to stress.

Here’s the science-y part👉Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. It often gets the nickname the "stress hormone" because it increases to help your Body respond to stress and challenges. It also helps regulate metabolism, control blood sugar, and assist the immune system. It’s also involved in the body's natural sleep-wake cycle, and helps manage inflammation. It’s quite the powerhouse!

It’s a normal and natural thing for Cortisol to kick in when needed - (example) your alarm doesn’t go off, and your Body needs to do something to get you out of bed and into the shower NOW - that’s Cortisol. However, so many of us are experiencing high levels for prolonged periods of time due to a busy lifestyle, and our Bodies never get the chance to downshift and regulate.

So here are some easy things you can do to promote that drop in cortisol and re-balance your Body:
👉Laughter is Medicine: Spontaneous laughter is associated with “greater reduction in cortisol levels as compared with usual activities.” So, watch a stand up comic or meet up with that really funny friend, and giggle for your health.
👉The Power of Scent: Sometimes a smell can enhance our mood through association of things that we enjoy. A lime/coconut candle might trigger happy memories of the beach. Sandalwood can feel earthy and grounding.
👉Mother Nature: Fresh air + sunshine really are a one-two punch when it comes to reducing stress. They’re both effective tools to improve your mental, physical, and cognitive health. Open a window, sit outside, plant flowers, take your kids to the park - get out and allow nature to nurture you.

As the world pushes us to be busier and busier, it's clear that taking care of our body and mind is more important than ever.

🌷 What would it look like to add laughter, sunshine, and a nice smelling candle to your day, every day?

🌷 What would it look like to tackle daily stress with routine massage - a direct route to regulating your nervous system and lowering those Cortisol levels?

There will be a Downtown Parking Ban on Monday, February 24th from 7:00am to 3:30pm to allow DPW Crews to clear the snow bankings from the edges of the sidewalk.

The City Code requires property owners in the Downtown to maintain the sidewalks in front of their buildings. This work is being done to assist in the snow removal between the street and the clearing done by the property owners.

During this time, certain sections of streets in the area may be closed to allow crews to adequately work clear the sidewalks. These closures will be done on a rolling basis based on where the crews are at that time.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and patience while crews work to clear the snow.

👣✨ Relieving Plantar Fasciitis: The Connection with Calf Muscles! 🌿🦵

Today, let's shine a spotlight on a common foot condition that can cause discomfort and affect your daily activities: plantar fasciitis. Did you know that the health of your calf muscles plays a significant role in managing this condition? Let's delve into the connection between plantar fasciitis and the calf muscles. 🦶💪

🌱 Understanding Plantar Fasciitis: Plantar fasciitis is a condition characterized by inflammation and irritation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot, connecting the heel to the toes. It often causes sharp, stabbing pain in the heel or arch of the foot, particularly in the morning or after prolonged periods of rest. Plantar fasciitis can be triggered by various factors, including overuse, improper footwear, and tight calf muscles. 🌅🦶

💪 The Role of Calf Muscles: The calf muscles, specifically the gastrocnemius and soleus, are interconnected with the plantar fascia. Tightness or tension in these muscles can lead to increased strain on the fascia, contributing to the development or exacerbation of plantar fasciitis. When the calf muscles are tight, they pull on the Achilles tendon, which, in turn, pulls on the plantar fascia. This tightness can restrict flexibility, alter gait mechanics, and increase stress on the foot. 🏃‍♀️🦵

✨ Managing Plantar Fasciitis: To effectively manage plantar fasciitis, it's essential to address the tension and tightness in the calf muscles. Here are some strategies to consider:

1️⃣ Stretching Exercises: Regularly performing calf stretches can help alleviate tightness in the muscles. Simple stretches like wall calf stretches, standing calf raises, and downward dog yoga pose can be beneficial. Focus on maintaining good form, holding the stretches for an appropriate duration, and gradually increasing intensity over time.

2️⃣ Foam Rolling: Using a foam roller or a massage ball to target the calf muscles can help release tension and increase flexibility. Roll along the length of the calf, applying gentle pressure to break up adhesions and knots. Incorporate foam rolling into your daily routine for optimal results.

3️⃣ Massage Therapy: Seeking the assistance of a skilled massage therapist can provide targeted relief for your calf muscles and help alleviate tension. Deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and specific techniques tailored to your needs can aid in releasing tightness and restoring optimal muscle function.

4️⃣ Footwear and Support: Choosing appropriate footwear that offers proper arch support and cushioning can help reduce strain on the plantar fascia and calf muscles. Consider orthotic inserts or custom-made shoe inserts for added support and stability.

🌿 Seeking Professional Guidance: If you're experiencing persistent or severe plantar fasciitis symptoms, it's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional or a physical therapist. They can provide a comprehensive evaluation, offer specific exercises and treatments, and guide you through a tailored plan to manage and alleviate your symptoms effectively.

So, if you're dealing with plantar fasciitis, don't forget to pay attention to your calf muscles. By addressing tightness and tension in this area, you can aid in the management of the condition and promote overall foot health. Remember to incorporate stretching, self-care techniques, and seek professional guidance when needed. Your feet deserve to walk on the path of comfort and well-being! 👣💕

Welcome!

My name is Angela Krymowski and I am a graduate of the former Blaine School of Esthetics in Lowell and The Massage School in Easthampton. I hold both an Esthetics and Massage Therapy license in the state of Massachusetts.

My holistic approach to skincare is more of a hands on experience preferring to keep the use of machines to a minimum while still achieving results. I proudly use the Keyano Aromatics skincare line in all of my facial treatments. Keyano Aromatics is devoted to manufacturing one of the most environmentally conscious products on the market today. Keyano Aromatics is a great blend of Thalassotherapy- the use of seawater and seaweed in healing therapies with the age-old use of aromatherapy. Keyano Aromatics rejects the use of animal testing and the use of animal products for ingredients.

Each massage session is tailored with your therapeutic goals in mind. This is achieved through the use of Swedish massage techniques, deep tissue and trigger point work. I prefer to use a variety of different pressures from light, medium and deep; using my hands, forearms and elbows throughout the session to achieve the desired results.
